Yassir Arafat actually said so, that name was concocted as a political tool. Wow, some people are unbelievably stupid if they actually believe that Palestine is an "invented country". It was a tiny independent State that was smaller than the land that Israel presently occupies - much of which is being occupied against international law and in defiance of the UN.
The best way to think of Palestine is like a much smaller Turkey - but before it became a developing country. A small independent State with no political conflicts with the Arab nations around it. Politically neutral. If you think that Palestine never existed then explain this map published in 1895:
Maybe you can find me a Map published before 1948 showing the region attributed to Palestine being attributed to another country then? It's up to you to prove your claim. I believe modern historians trace the state of the Palestinian State as an independent country back to around the 1820's - as you know Israel formed State in 1948 well over 100 years later.

It has like Palestine and Gaza ,banged it's head against the wall forever, but it there has been periods of news cycles where it has not been center stage. We are hearing about it now because of the drama of violence to the scale it has become. Much like mass shootings and gun death get ignored until something BIG happens. We pay attention for a while, then we move onto something else.
Prior to this current conflict, it seemed off the radar and quite for years, even though I knew it hadn't gone away. There is a saying in Journalism "If it bleeds it leads".

Of course you would think that. You Europeans have a centuries long anti-semitic tradition of hating Jews. Somehow linked to Eroupe's own historical brand of Christianity of hating Jews over the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

That's not entirely untrue - the surrounding arab nations didn't provide support and muslims until very recently have been quite despised in western politics unlike jews.

-You Europeans have a centuries long anti-semitic tradition of hating Jews.
I could use something similar against you Americans. Do I need to recall the two centuries long tradition of racial discrimination?
Think before you post, sir.

I'm tired of hearing hate-filled rhetoric from both sides.

We could also recall Britain's 'Imperial Master Race' beliefs over India too.

I just don't believe I have to feel guilty or apologize for my white skin like you do.

A Theist: the UK is no where near as extreme as the rest of europe. I'm not even aware of anti semitism in the uk. Sure racism exists here, but not as publicly vile and or prominent if those brain dead tv shows in the US portray.
I believe that there's a prominent jewish lobby in the US not unpopular or incompatible with the christian lobby. In the uk we have strong islamist lobby, a pretty much impotent c of e representation, and the minority ukip/ extreme right wing.
