Is there anything that could convince you that the God of the Bible may not exist?
Hard to say what would convince me, but one thing which would make me pause would be discovery of documents predating the canonical works which show a gradual build from Jesus being a normal human preacher, not performing miracles or making claims of divinity, to what we see in the Bible.

Also, it's even funnier coming from a guy who describes himself as believing in "god, not religion". Which Bible are you citing, formulated by which religion, voted upon by which men?

You believe yourself iconocalstic, yet you sup from the spoon all the same.

You still don't get it, my point in quoting Jesus is that he's the only "religious" figure to state that the same miracles he preformed, his followers would be able to do.

No other religion makes that claim. Because they simply can't.

err, think about this statement for a minute. And put it into the context of what you know. Any "story" will do.

You and three of your friends are standing around. A fourth comes up and says that a man dug up his friends dad and brought hin back to life. This fourth person also claims that there are more important things in life like "love" acceptance" and "understanding". What can we say about the truths this man claimed?

Is it reasonable to force the notion that both have to be true or both are false on us and others? Don't you think forcing you views on us is rude? It is as rude as me trying to force the notion that what the man said is all false on you. Don't you think?

be able to count is over rated.

Of course you've got to consider how common it was to record anything at that time and what purposes called for writing. There weren't magazines such People at the time so it is hard to imagine what written venue existed for printing a story about a carpenter prone to rages at money changers. The evidence which might dissuade you seems pretty safely unlikely.

Earlier I posted an old video (recorded sometime in the 1950's) of a man doing exactly the same thing. In case you haven't seen it: When people would come up to the stage to be healed, he, having never met the person, could tell them what sickness they had, name, and address ect.

This isn't done to showoff, it's done because divine healing is operated by faith (scientific studies using placebos show this). And gift of discernment makes it easier for the person to believe.

you are saying that as if it were a bad thing.
When did logic and reason ever become a negative?

If God told you He did not exist, then if true someone on a deistic level is communicating to you in a dream. Which if true means some sort of edit does exist. This would lead any rational person to conclude that the deity doing the speaking is not the one you call God if again what He said is true.

Quote:Incidentally, the theist of whom I spoke, whose name escapes me but ought to be easily traceable by anyone arsed to do so, rationalised the account of my dream as my being deceived by the devil. He had to; it couldn't have been a mere dream, or a lie, because that opened up the floodgtaes on every other divinely inspired dream. I couldn't have been relating a true revelation, as in his mind the idea of his god speaking to an atheist bluescreened his brain. So the most likely option he could come up with was that the devil was fucking with me and using me to test his faith.
Not much of a test if you do not proclaim any faith. If this was your dream again I would tell you that God was telling you that what you believe to be God, is a strawman you've created or at the very least understand to be God.[/quote]

So it's "either/or" with this guy (i.e., one extreme or the other, no middle ground.) Typical christian "thinking."

But, what about this little guy? Sheep or Goat?

Or are you agnostic to the existence of geeps?

Drich, you wouldn't recognise logic and reason if they pulled a train on you in the prison shower.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I disagree. It is not typical. Not uncommon, but this personality type is not dependant on belief. A nice guy is a nice guy. Of course if I am wrong and you are right. These fundie Christians are right also.

But I am right.

Why you do this to me, Dimmy?
I'm possessed by logic and I want a priest to exorcise it out of me!
