Christians. Could you be wrong?
RE: Christians. Could you be wrong?
And how would we go about determining the truth value of the bible? Dying seems a little extreme; particularly if you're gambling your entire life on the outcome.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I think the way to understand the true value of the Bible is to read and study it. It does seem a little extreme, but I am not really woreied about it. If I die and God does exist I know where I'll be.

A little extreme? Annihilating whole cities with pillars of fire, sending bears to eat kids for making bald jokes, calling your "chosen" people to genocide and then punishing them for not doing a thorough job, setting family members against each other, torturing some poor fucker and then brutally murdering him. Constant invocations of absolutism regarding the tiniest of things.....

Just barely managed to go over the top on all of that did they? Had they backed off a smidge the pill would be easier to swallow?

Many of us have read the bible, many of us walk away from that reading with a slightly less favorable view of the the value of the work. When you die, and find yourself wherever you find yourself (ignoring the hilarity of the assumption to begin with)- I think you might have just begun to have something to worry about...no matter which Magic Kingdom you find yourself in.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Usually the value of a thing is in relation to it's utility.
I have found it's utility to be vast.
Not only as a reference point to be able to view the reality behind what passes for history, but personally, I know in whom i have believed and He is able to keep that which I have committed to Him against that day.
Whichever day looms before me.

Oh, I just notice I clicked on this post by accident. Did not mean to interfere.

It's especially useful in finding creative alternatives to express widely detested opinions. For example, calling Obama the antichrist rather than some other - shall we say taboo - phrasing of your complaint with the man.

I never said Obama was the antichrist.
