Yes I pick on all religions.
RE: Yes I pick on all religions.
The book I linked above Brian.

The bible sure isn't a science book. We're in agreement. But that makes me think that you haven't read/ understand a word I've been saying.

Those examples of moral source are actually entertainment which lazily borrow from serious sources. I'd be worried about you if you claim those to be your only moral source.

If you wish to use child like morality then I hope the best for you.

DUDE, my "morality" is in me, not any fucking book, nor does it make me a robot. It is as simple as don't physically harm someone outside of self defense. You don't need a comic book or work of fiction to figure out what human empathy is or what compassion is. It has always been part of our evolution.

Humans can come up with really pretty works of fiction and religion certainly is the most creative work of fiction. The problem with religion is that unlike fiction it pretends to be the patent holder and inventor of human morality.

EVOLUTION explains why humans do good or bad, not religion. That does not mean art and fiction should not have a place. It just means I do not assign good or bad to ancient myth or superstition.

If you rightfully accept others can find morality outside the god or religion you subscribe to then YOU need to consider like they do, that it is YOU, not your label or a fictional god that is the reason you seek empathy and compassion.

Ancient stories of gods do not explain shit except for the ignorant beliefs of the people of that time, just like humans widely and stupidly thought the earth was flat.

That's compatible with Christian theology Brian (inbuilt morality).

Religion strives for truth, yes. If something can be stated that doesn't change with fashion, then that statement is said to be true. I don't know why you'd have a problem with that.

God explains purpose. That's the aim of all religions AFAIK.

It is more like having a friend(your fellow human) make a stinky fart(unaware of how bad their logic is). I do not hate you because you believe, I hate the conclusions you came to because your use of logic is flawed.

When anyone first comes to an atheist website please think before you post. If you think you have a earth shattering argument not made by someone prior, you are wrong. If you think you are the only religion who makes that argument you are wrong. If you think science props up your religion you are wrong.

I have been at this for 13 years every single day, and have had the same arguments made by Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus and Buddhists.

Instead of getting pissed off at someone objecting to your claims, you need to consider that YOU are wrong. There is nothing wrong with admitting you got it wrong. It is how our species learns and grows. If our species never questioned social norms our species never would have left the caves.

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

Then what is the whole: god created the earth in 7 days thing? Is that somehow not an origin story?

Read the book Wolfie.

Read with the language and cultural influences of the time genesis actually sets out Gods purpose in relation to everything. It ends with him at the controls driving the ship. Everything is described by its function, and not its material inception. This is thoroughly backed up, unlike any other view on the subject, including young earth creationism and intelligent design. It considers the atheist viewpoint too.

It says god literally created the earth and everything on it, that is an origin story.
