Christians: Please explain the Exodus

The Sinai is mostly made of igneous rock, not sand.

Archeologists are consistently able to find remnants of small settlements that are older than the supposed Exodus, and in harsher environments.

2 million people would leave plenty of evidence of their being there.

Science has come along way in the last few thousand years. Maybe time you should step out of the Bronze Age too.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Ah, it's worth another shot, I guess. If it proves useless we can move on and away from a lost cause.
I don't count C4RM5 as a lost cause. Indeed, none are lost causes - some are just still 'lost'. Wink Shades

What do I need to pray about?

Why am I a lost cause? I don't feel very lost

Imagine that you're Moses, being inspired by god to write these books, and you find out (1)that you will wind up pissing off god, (2)you will pay for it by never reaching the promise land and (3)almost exactly WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO DIE.

I think it's fair to credit Moses with the first use of the term "buzzkill."
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

During the transfiguratio Moses appears, but if exodus didn't happen then why does he appear, without exodus we have no reasons to believe Moses esisted even though he is mentioned throughout the Bible.

That's pretty thin. Wouldn't it have been easier to just edit out that one mention of a guy called moses and leave it at that?

You've already said you don't care if it's true, as long as it helps christianity along. The exodus thing is not doing that by a long shot, and this would have been easily cured by not mentioning moses at all.

I never realised I was in the bronze age, I know science has come alone way but anything under human control is never perfect.

That God would free your mind from identification with your ego - that is the entire meaning of the exodus story, and the fact that your mind is still in Egypt, acting as a slave to ego, says that you need deeper understanding to wash over you.

I do care if exodus is true. I don't know where you thought I didn't.

ShaMan in what way do you think my mind is a slave to my ego?

You believe that you care whether the exodus narrative is true, but evidence shows -like the exodus narrative itself- that this is not actually true.

What the evidence does show that you care about, is the notion that the rest of your beliefs would be meaningless if exodus were not true...but here again, this is not true.

It's a tangled web you've woven amigo.

I have to work now. I'll check in later. I'm really on your side C4RM5. The thing is, I'm on everyone's side, and that makes some people very uneasy.
