Exactly. This is not why I don't believe.
This is, in part, why even if I were 100% sure that it existed, I would not worship it. Fear, sure - but not worship.

Christians prefer to think of them as "love taps."

Such a being is worthy only of contempt, and shunning.

This is one of their major problems but it is the corner they have painted themselves into.
Yeah I know the Christians do, but Jews know better.

Good replies
Just wanted to clarify. I'm not a creationist. I believed in Evolution and the big bang way before I knew anything about Christianity (I'm a convert)
Just wanted to see what made other people non religious and a huge% of people answered it was because of the old testament. Maybe I understood it different than anyone else. I don't agree with many things in the bible but they are way past us. Or they simply never happened, in which case nothing to worry about. What the Israelites did or didn't do was never a reason not to believe in god.
The old testament isn't the reason I am Christian. On another thread about Ex Hindus I wrote why I believe in God because of the fruits of the spirit. If you want to write about that check it out.
Also about republitards- I may be a retard, but not a Republican

Including retroactively inventing their history?

You have to be an apologist for more than slavery if you back the bible. I like to start with genocide apologist. The rationalization is mind/logic-boggling.

Are you sure it's not the other way around. With the NT, the OT is pointless.
Thus says the lord, "these are my chosen people I will favor and punish them above all others."
"Ooops, what I really meant is I love all mankind, but if I don't beat myself up a little for their foibles , I'll have to kill them all. . . . Chosen people, what chosen people? I now choose only the people who choose me."

If there is no "fall of man" what the fuck is "jesus" dying for?
The whole thing is a house of cards. You can't take too many out of the bottom without the whole fucking thing tumbling down.
