Assumes there is a better way when God's nature alone implies there is not.

So, the theist is basically using this flawed analogy to just say, "God works in mysterious ways". It's the ultimate theist 'get out of jail free' card for 'God'.

There is no responses needed except derision toward the theists for hiding from the tough questions about the god of their mythology.

Isn't it so convenient that the theist can make up any attributes for their god, ad hoc, to explain away any of the evil acts he is responsible for in the stories?

Cognitive dissonance is a bitch.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Arguing against theists is the most entertaining yet the most frustratingly pointless thing you can do.

No wonder it's frustrating. You've all been rambling on in this thread about how terrible the God is who you don't believes exists.

No a better analogy if you are going to speak about the actions of a God if it were a doctor would be more like Josef Mengele. Sets up the camp, forces you into it without your permission, and puts the hazards in the camp he did not have to put there in the first place, then blames you the victim for what he didn't have to allow in the first place, on top of torturing you for no good reason other than he can.

According to believers, nothing happens that god does not want happening so who would be to blame for it even getting to that point? Did the man set out saying "hey I want to have my legs broken".

The threat/bribe motif of the bible is written like that because in all religions back then mortality rate was high and polytheists and monotheist ruling class held the power and attributed that power to divinity. And back then the tribe depended on the most being lock step.

God/s are human invented characters reflecting our real desire for control over our environments. Our species has more opportunity to survive when they control resources. God is a really horrible invention as a concept because it reflects our species narcissism.

God is like an abusive spouse as the character is written.

Part 1 "Be a good Hebrew and no one gets hurt"

Part 2. "Ok I wont hit you anymore"

Part 3. "I lied, fuck anyone who didn't kiss my ass".

Not all of us. In fact, I believe I cautioned just the opposite.

It is not a real god we are railing against, it is your bad use of logic that falsely leads you to the conclusion that this god exists and is moral.

We have to argue this myth because believers act on these beliefs and vote and have weapons.

Tell us why you are not afraid of Muslims threats of hell? You are not afraid of their hell and rightfully so. But you would be concerned if those followers acted out in violence or made laws that oppressed you.

We no more believe in your God or your Satan than you believe that Lex Luther is real and can use Kriptionite to kill Superman. But you would be rightfully concerned if an adult in real life went around claiming Lex Luther was real.

Now here is a list of arguments many of us here have run into with a variety of religions and not just you or your god claim or your book.

LIST OF FALLACIOUS ARGUMENTS..

1 Quoting a book to prove a book........is known as "circular reasoning" all religions do this.

2. Appeal to authority.......If you lived in ancient Rome by proxy of the Caesar's belief it would mandate that he is right because he holds power.

3. Appeal to tradition....If that worked then the Ancient Egyptians would have been right because they believed in their polytheistic gods for 3,000 years.

4.Appeal to popularity.....If that worked then we should all be Muslims because Islam has the most members.

Now again mind you, we do not simply pick on your religion alone. We do because in the west that is what we run into the most. But we take on all sorts of polytheistic god claims, monotheistic, and even new age woo.

I apply the same skepticism to all religions.

When did we say he is terrible? We didn't come up with the leg chopping scenario. Also we are talking about the concept of the christian god, and this concept does exist in case you didn't know...

Think of a child that sees a crook claiming to be a doctor to steal candy from children.

So like the the religious person the child lacks understanding of the big picture.
