Avoid Halloween!
#41
RE: Avoid Halloween!
Halloween is an American thing that seems to have infested our shores in the last few years.

Nothing to do with religion or paganism but just an excuse to dress up as a sexy witch.

As such I whole heartedly approve of it.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis.

In the last few years? It's been infested over here longer than I've been alive.

It comes from Ireland.
Everything I needed to know about life I learned on Dagobah.

The first Halloween was when all of those zombies popped out of their graves and went to visit their buddies in Jerusalem when Jesus was crucified. They got ticked because they didn't get any candy so they ate their buddies' brains.

Halloween is a fun time, why fuck it up with stupid beliefs, chill out, and let those who enjoy it, enjoy it.

Here in Portugal we have some more prevalent holidays of that sort like "Carnaval, Entrudo" or Mardi Gras for the US citizens. Every country, even region, has it's way to celebrate it, e.g. Brazil. Here people wear costumes, play pranks, they make these cars with alot of political satire (go Torres Vedras!) and generally get drunk. It is around February, it's a mobile holiday, calculated on the number of days before easter.

I noticed kids here are already taught about halloween and do go for candy on halloween. I's a recent thing and kids like it (better than being home all year around).I see no reason why shouldn't happen, the only consequence being tired parents.

Which is why it pisses me off when some jackass leaves a Jesus pamphlet in my kids trick-or-treat bag.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
