I always thought Satan was a kind of Promethian character for the Abrahamic pantheon. The stakeholders within the church would cast Satan as a villain. But just like Prometheus, he is a divine character that seeks to give power in the form of independence to man. Christians tend toward infantile dependence. I like these kinds of characters but of course, like any adult, I have no use for worship.
