Do we need more Atheist books for kids?

God is an idea. an idea like time travel, alternate realities, or reincarnation. choosing to believe these things might be true isn't a wrong decision. maybe it's a naive decision, but it's not wrong.

Concluding these things to be real is most certainly wrong unless they can be demonstrated. You also seem to have cause and effect backwards. Atheism, at least for me, is a result of how I look at the world; not its starting point or the basis for discovery.

Rhythm has already addressed this so I'll just politely ask that you drop the juvenille "I'm an accidental villain and am causing great offense" routine. You're not offending anyone; you're simply mistaken about some of your claims.

I'm just trying to retreat from an argument that got out of control. I won't say I was mistaken on my claims in my original post, but I didn't think my responses out and I payed for it and made myself look like a fool. I concede.

Its alright but a good education and the will to learn will turn you atheist. Just a fact because well its true for me.

I would say there is a place for teaching secularism as a civic duty.

No! That will be discrimination of the highest order. Children should get to know God at the early stage of their development so that they can become worthy human beings.

Really discrimination when people who do the judging have a ancient six thousand year old book that literally tells everyone they are a piece of trash in the eyes of god. and used that same book to enslave people and do horrendous things. children should not need the idea of a god or some sort of deity to comfort them. i am a humanist and religious people tend to want the world to end so they can go to heaven faster... well it helps that more children are turning out atheist because of education and technology to tell them the answers they need instead of getting a half baked answer out of a book written by man.

I don't think you understand what secularism means. It's simply the belief that government and religion should be kept separate.

No one who isn'y already part of your cult will allow their kids to become indoctrinated in a system they do not subscribe to themselves. You'd be better off advocating tolerance and secular neutrality.

I don't think I have much interest in indoctrinating my kids in atheism. It's more that I inoculated them from theism by introducing them to the counter argument and engaged in a little comparative religious education.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
