Tell me how this is different from ISIS

Quote:Putin’s top priest tells Russians not to fear death amid mobilization

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church urged Russians not to fear death after some 300,000 reservists were called up to fight in Ukraine.

“Go bravely to fulfill your military duty. And remember that if you lay down your life for your country, you will be with God in his kingdom, glory and eternal life.”

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

It's not.

But then, this is the type of tactic all the Abrahamic religions have been using for centuries.
Dying to live, living to die.

What do you know, Christianity is bad for you.

Quote:For some Christians, ‘rapture anxiety’ can take a lifetime to heal

From the moment they are old enough to understand, millions of people raised in certain Christian communities are taught that the rapture is something that can happen at any time. Though there are different schools of thought as to how such an event would go, the basic idea is the same: Righteous Christians ascend into heaven, while the rest are left behind to suffer. However it happens, it is something to be both feared and welcomed, to be prayed about and prepared for every moment of a believer’s life.

“Rapture anxiety,” as it is often called, is recognized by some faith experts and mental health professionals as a type of religious trauma. Darren Slade, the president and CEO of the Global Center for Religious Research, has been studying religious trauma across several faiths and denominations for years.

“This is a real thing. It’s a chronic problem,” he says of rapture anxiety. “This is a new area of study, but in general, our research has revealed that religious trauma leads to an increase of anxiety, depression, paranoia and even some OCD-like behaviors: ‘I need to say this prayer of salvation so many times,’ ‘I need to confess my sins so often.’”

“Now imagine,” he continues, “You are taught that at any minute, you could be left here on Earth. What does that do to the teenager who just had premarital sex, or even simply took the Lord’s name in vain?”

Experiences like Ajoy’s – a latent fear of an impending, inevitable end – are very common among communities of religious trauma survivors. On social media, former church members recall being tricked by church leaders into watching violent rapture-themed films or crying themselves to sleep thinking about people and pets that would be left behind when the end finally came.

A woman who got married at 21 and divorced at 24 says she regrets letting religion skew her understanding of love

Kristjana Hillberg dealt with feelings of unworthiness since she was a teenager.

Six months into her marriage, Hillberg began to see how religion pushed her to settle for a life as a housewife that wasn't aligned with her beliefs in women's empowerment and curiosity. In grade school, for example, Hillberg remembers being told it was a woman's duty to "replenish the earth." She sang songs that reinforced gender stereotypes of women as homemakers and men as breadwinners, and learned that partaking in alcohol, marijuana, and pre-marital sex made someone a sinner.

Getting a divorce four years later, leaving the church, and healing through therapy helped Hillberg find shame-free sources of love and joy, she said.

She opened herself to trying things that didn't involve being a mother or wife, like dance, and later co-created Step Into Your Magic, a course to help people figure out who they are and what they want out of life.

Hillberg said internalizing the teaching that pre-marital sex is a serious sin that made her feel unlovable following a sexual assault in college. Since she was sexually assaulted while drunk, she assumed at the time she deserved it and needed to repent.

A Michigan high school sophomore won a contest “to brighten up” the middle school health center. But the mural came under fire when parents alleged it was promoting LGBTQ imagery and witchcraft.

In an interview with TODAY.com, Hargreaves said, “The meeting turned into a hate fest. Usually there are 10 people at these meetings, 50 showed up. It wasn’t even about the mural ... People were talking about how we need to pray the gay away.”

“I had to stand up and say something,” Hargreaves added. “It was out of control. You can’t catch gay, honey. It’s not contagious.”

The student artist left the meeting in tears, according to Hargreaves.

“She tried to explain herself, but no one would listen. They were convinced that the Hand of Fatima ... was satanic,” Hargreaves said.

Quote:Texas pastor openly calls on 'Christian nationalists' to 'impose their values on society'

"We always put our love for God above everything, even allegiance to our country," he explained. "But that's not what they're really talking about. Listen carefully. They say they are opposed to people who say America was founded as a Christian nation, Americans who believe not only in the spiritual heritage of our nation, but believe that we ought to use elections to help return our country to its Christian foundation."

"If that's Christian nationalism, count me in," the pastor laughed. "Because that's what we have to do. And what's so hypocritical about this, Tim, is the left don't mind at all imposing their values on our country through the election process. They don't mind forcing their pro-abortion, pro-transgender, pro-open borders policy upon our nation."

This guy is so full of lies that it is beyond measure. Nobody is forcing abortion or transgender on him or anyone else.

Where is discrimination against women still allowed in the UK? The church

I am the vicar of a wonderful church in west London and love my work. My parishioners are a fabulously diverse group of people and they all recognise me as a priest and vicar. Most are unaware that some other churches would not accept me, just because I am a woman.

As we mark the 30th anniversary of the measure being passed which would allow women to be admitted into the Church of England priesthood, I celebrate the much greater range of positions that women now hold in the church, including senior roles. I could just choose to ignore the discrimination that remains. But it pains me to see some churches advertise for a new vicar and only accept applications from men who don’t accept female priests. And some other churches advertise only for a male vicar who doesn’t believe women can be church leaders, like vicars or bishops.

It pains me to see my diocesan bishop, the Rt Revd Sarah Mullally, being required to delegate authority to the Bishop of Fulham, a “non-ordaining bishop” who does not accept that women can be priests, and to the Bishop of Maidstone, who does not believe women should be church leaders, so that these bishops can oversee churches who share these beliefs. It pains me that some of my clergy colleagues, including bishops, don’t allow women to preach or teach men, and some don’t believe that women clergy can consecrate the sacraments.

Demi Lovato poster banned for being offensive to Christians

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) said it had received complaints relating to the "image of Ms Lovato bound up in a bondage-style outfit whilst lying on a mattress shaped like a crucifix".

The singer was "in a position with her legs bound to one side which was reminiscent of Christ on the cross," it added.

Together with title of the album "Holy Fvck", the ASA found the poster was "likely to be viewed as linking sexuality to the sacred symbol of the crucifix and the crucifixion". This was was likely to cause serious offence to Christians, it said.
