SOCIAL Darwinism is, in some ways.
Evolutionary theory, isn't.

Well, technically speaking, evolution has nothing to do with the origin of life. Of did you mean species as in plural? As in there being more than one species because they evolved? I'm...badly over thinking this, aren't I?
Well, I'm not sure what alternate explanation for life could be given by an atheist, except maybe aliens. Of course, then you need to ask where the aliens came from. Scientologists don't technically believe in a god, do they? I guess there's an example.

It sure looks that way. http://www.gallup.com/poll/170822/believ...igins.aspx
Gallup.com Wrote:Between 40% and 47% of Americans over the past 32 years have said the creationist explanation for the origin of human life best fits their personal views. These Americans tend to be highly religious, underscoring the degree to which many Americans view the world around them through the lens of their religious beliefs. Those who adopt the creationist view also tend to have lower education levels, but given the strong influence of religious beliefs, it is not clear to what degree having more education or different types of education might affect their views.
A number of states have been embroiled in fights in recent years over the degree to which evolution and creationism should be included in their public school curricula. Residents in the South are more likely to believe in the creationist view of the origin of humans than are those living in other regions, making it clear why the fights to have creationism addressed in the public schools might be an important political issue in that region.
Still, few scientists would agree that humans were created pretty much in their present form at one time 10,000 years ago, underscoring the ongoing discontinuity between the beliefs that many Americans hold and the general scientific consensus on this important issue.

Either
A. A atheists believes in a god who made us. (they are not really atheists)
B. They believe we are the creation of aliens. (tin foil hat territory)
C. They just plainly do not want to believe in evolution. (they would still need a substitute for why there is humans and a damn good one.)
D. Denial (Theists well are in denial like some people are that yes we are animals i do not accept it. but look at the bright side we may be animals but we are the smartest most well adapt ones on the planet.)

I have only been aware of a very few atheists who don't believe in the big E, mostly they are crackpots or just have no real scientific knowledge. I would confidently estimate the overwhelming majority believe it just fine.

Do you really think the he with the big H, successfully made the dirt golem in his first attempt? Look at the number of screwups in your own body... So obviously Cain had the previous failed dirt golems to fuck around with.
Also no, the big E or godidit aren't the only choices, the new third choice is godidthebigE, or goddid-abioge-blahblah or 'godid' prefixed to any other explanation you come up with.
Anyway, speciation is term quite intertwined with evolution, so much so that you might say species are dependent on evolution. The origin of life on the other hand is a whole different story. And I do believe in abiogenesis, because I see life as a point at which matter formed a complex enough structure to exhibit the basic properties of life.

Chad IS trying to subtly criticise Beccs' post using what he thinks is an analogously wrong statement which mirrors the format of the former? Hopefully?

Does Chad not believe in evolution then?
I don't really want to hear arguments about the origin of the universe from people who can't/won't understand established facts about the tiny bit of grit we live on.
