I'm pretty sure the author of Revelations was talking about Rome, which is gone, and Jesus thought the end times were going to happen within a few decades, which it didn't, and only a minority of christians even believe in the rapture anyway.
We will continue to work towards a society where equality is the most important thing, which theocracies are adamantly opposed to. We look at the middle east, and see the horrible things theocracies do. we see countries where over 90% profess christianity, and see that they're worse off than more secular countries.
Supposedly Yahweh told Noah he wouldn't flood the world again, implying he wouldn't do what he just did a second time. Yet christians believe he is going to do it. It just won't be with water, and he'll save more than eight people. Still a failure on his part, assuming he actually wants as many people to get into heaven as possible.

Ssshhh! *Whispers* You're not supposed to point out that the ravings in Revelation are code for then-contemporary events, or that their God-man had feet of clay, or that the rapture is a goofy 19th Century interpretation. It might get them thinking about all the rest of the Bible that is wrong or that they got wrong. Don't ruffle their feelings unless you are prepared for a shit storm of transparently dishonest apologetics. Treat them very gently, poor things! They have a hell of a time squaring those circles.

My favorite violent part? I don't remember the names, I read it in Latin. There was a Jewish princess, and her tribe was conquered by a tribe of barbarians. They slaughtered all the men and the leader claimed her as a prize. He goes off to feast, drink, and get drunk while she is upstairs in his bedroom waiting and praying to god. When he comes up to his bedchamber she takes his sword and stabs him with it. Why do I love that story? The word they use to describe the stabbing in Latin has a sexual connotation. The word actually translates closer to "penetrate" than to "stab."
I was doing the research for a paper on the early Christian church. I decided to use some creative translation and avoid the sexual connotations in the language. it was a fun time.

Considering that there are verses in the bible that state that a Hebrew could take a female prisoner of war as his bride, it is possible that the Midanite woman was a captive and possible rape victim when she died.
2 Samuel Chapter 6
