I don't see what your deal is, but you're coming off as a total bitch. Yeah, because this isn't even a real conversation. If you think that the same thing applies to me as you, you're mistaken. I'm not the one who comes in with gender conspiracies and then acts like a total ass hat when people disagree with you. To be honest, would you expect any other response from being an asshole? Sorry, you're mistaken. Maybe you could clean up the mess of shit you've been spewing all over this thread. Start by apologizing for being a dick, then if you're feeling up to it, explain in reasonable, non gender conspiracy laden buzz word terms, why what I was saying is wrong. You can find such videos in any community with the same frequency. Lets nip that in the bud. Let me share my perspective. It might clarify the reason why some men are getting irate; I agree. Its weird but I actually think the only way we can actually break free from that web is three words which we absolutely are not allowed to say. "I. Don't. Care". They're beautifully simple and truthful. Tommy Lee Jones knew the magic behind them and we should rediscover it. They're the words I think when I give money to charity. I mean; yes I want to help but its not like I'm emotionally involved in the struggle. My attitude is basically "Please take my money and leave me alone." I have the same attitude to race and to sexism. I think equal rights should be a thing and I'd do something small to help with that if it didn't take up too much of my time but I don't actually care in that I'm not emotionally invested in the subject. It affects me in the most peripheral way and this needs to be understood. If someones going to convince me to help out they need to be really nice about it. Thats my time and effort we're talking about. I mean I'm in a dressing gown right now, sipping coca-cola and listening to music. If someone busts in right now screaming for me to rise up against the white oppressors I am going to take a short sip, call the police then go back to what I was doing because that shit is just bad for my mellow. "Do you want to put your signature on this paper to say you agree women should get equal pay?" "Sure." "Do you want to get in a long conversation about how men are responsible for all the evils of the world?" "Nope. Don't care. Bye." *starts whistling* I think those words need to be brought back, for one and all. Then we will all be truly equal.

I can't remember the last time I posted in it before I posted about the irony that drips off of you, and it's almost a year old, so how about you apologize for attributing to me what isn't mine?

The stuff that other feminists in this thread have been saying, I assume, aligns with your thoughts. Otherwise why would you be commenting to me, unless you specifically disagreed with what I was arguing with those other people? Are you defending their points, or have you specifically singled out me for some other reason? As of right now, it seems like you've taken it upon yourself to pick a fight with me. Condescending points don't count as an argument, but maybe in your world you somehow haven't been condescending. Hell, for all I know, in the mind of a feminist, this may count as having a real, intelligent conversation. The hell if I know. RE: Why so many "anti-feminists" in the atheist community?

Well, I can't say I agree with your conclusion there, Raphiel, but you have a right to it. I DO care, otherwise I wouldn't spend time helping at the local food bank. I'm not so poor anymore, but I know that my life, and my child's future, and many other people around me are affected by the poverty of others. I do get into discussion with people, otherwise I wouldn't be an atheist. I care what other people have to say, how they feel, and if I can help.
I don't care are 2 words that are certainly NOT lost, so they don't need to be brought back. I see it every day. Watch the people stepping over the guy sleeping on the street, watch the people doing nothing while their government tears the world apart. A long as you all have your hot cocoa, people don't care, and they sure as hell aren't ashamed to show how much they don't care. So, I suppose if the issue affects you, then you would want other people to care? Yeah. Good luck with that.

My responses to you have simply been to point out the irony and hypocrisy you have displayed. By the way, my only real contribution to this thread has been this: (January 5, 2015 at 3:47 pm)The_Empress Wrote: Just a quick aside: Godslayer, you do realize it takes more than money to raise a child, right? What if the parent who makes more money works more hours? Why would that parent have majority custody of a kid, when the other parent has more time to spend with him or her? Now, would you like to eat your words and apologize, or would you like to keep digging? My suggestion is the former.

I would assume you're agreeing with the people I'm arguing against, because you seemed to decide to back them up by calling me a hypocrite or something. If that's not the case, then I am glad I don't really feel like apologizing for anything though, plus reputation doesn't govern the accuracy of the things you say. So I'll be fine.
