That's very true. It is a weird idea that there is just this one being somehow outside of everything, even time, on his own... it's just bizarre. It's like he used to be in the sky, but science has pushed him so far back that now he has retreated out of all measurable space-time.

So we're maybe a prototype universe? Built to show middle management what ol' Ya can do with a deadline?
I don't think He's going to get his Christmas bonus this year.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat?

All the stupid arguments tend to come back to, "stuff needs a designer cos it's so amazing and complex!"
So of course, god is probably pretty complex wherever he is hiding, so he needs a designer too. Oh, he doesn't? OK cool.
I think we can all agree that he's a big pile of shit anyway.

We have cats. Strays and drop offs. Some I like, others I do not. Some like me, others do not. The all get food, shelter and loving. Each one is who they are and I expect nothing less and nothing more.
IF there were a god, why would it be any different.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

He doesn't need a designer because he's eternal. Some eternal being that comes from outside our universe, and can speak things into existence, is somehow more believable than matter and energy being eternal.
How dare all those cats not all worship you with the same fervor. You must command the loyal cats to destroy the heretic felines!
I have been told that Jesus pours out his grace equally to everything. In effect, it means some people will have nice lives, and some people won't, regardless of whether or not they're praying to him. Kind of make you wonder why only a minority of people on the planet are christians.

As is, he may have made all of existence, but he did a cruddy job of it.

It is an absurd notion that because someone created something, they are flawless at doing so, and can create it and manage it perfectly. Would you make that claim about anyone/anything else, that has ever made anything? Especially one you have no experience of whatsoever?
Bleh. It makes me really sad to think of people spending their whole lives worshiping absolutely nothing. Or to be charitable, worshiping a book. That's the only real thing, even if most of its contents aren't.

There's that and also the fact that religion builds walls between people. The Christians I am familiar with will never accept me for who I am. They view me as "lost" and destined for hell. Christianity separates people into the lost and the found, those who drink the Kool-Aid and those who know better. How can we all act as one and cooperate to make the world a better place when we're looked at as doomed, lost souls? I can't accept that.
I will conduct myself in a civil and polite manner with anybody, Christian or not. However, if you believe I am going to be eternally punished for not believing in the same thing as you then you're a shitty person. End of story.
