So I see no theists have even attempted to justify why worship is anything other than grovelling for better treatment, or out of fear for what will happen if you don't.
Anyone want to take a stab at why worshipping is more appropriate than just thanking and respecting?

Oh, he doesn't just want us to like and appreciate him. He wants us to center our lives around him, since he thinks he's the very source of good in the universe. If you are lukewarm, he will spit you out.

Some guys claim there's a god that says so, and wrote a book of laws that at best are slightly more progressive than their contemporaries. At worst are as bad as any human dictator has ever been.

I will conduct myself in a civil and polite manner with anybody, Christian or not. However, if you believe I am going to be eternally punished for not believing in the same thing as you then you're a shitty person. End of story.

I'll split hairs with you on this last statement, even though I agree with what you're saying. I could care less if a person believes I'll be eternally punished for not believing... If they discriminate against me for not sharing their believes, they'll face a fight, and yes, I would say they are a shitty person.

Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”

If Yahweh was real, I wouldn't worship him because he's a dick. But even if he wasn't, even if he was the most kind and loving God ever, why would I worship him?
I can be thankful, have admiration and respect, offer friendship, whatever. But what do either of us get out of worship?
The only real reason I can think of to worship anything is because you want to receive better treatment. Either in the form of gifts, or out of fear to avoid punishment. In other words, you're begging for stuff. The only other possible, and ludicrous reason would be that the God or whatever literally could not exist without this worship. Ironically, that is kind of true, but I doubt theists would even claim this.
So why worship anything other than for personal gain? Why not just say thank you? It's fucking creepy.
No matter what I did for someone, I would never expect nor want worship. Why would I?
I dunno, I like a good blowjob on occasion. I imagine a Supreme Being would appreciate the perquisites of power, too.

4 pages, and the best and only response is "God said so". My more general question was why you would worship anything, and I've had no answer.
So at the risk of sounding arrogant, I'm declaring myself the victor. The voting was unanimous, I just finished counting my votes and it is an astonishing 1 to 0 landslide in my favour. Parade tomorrow at 11.
