The ultimate thread against Christianity.
#21
RE: The ultimate thread against Christianity.
If you just do what you are told, and you were born in a country with a different predominant religion, you would blindly follow that religion instead. And then you would be "wrong", but wouldn't know it. So no, I don't think you care about truth. Your argument is that you were lucky enough to be born into the "right" religion.

Why worship?

God said so.

To 'think for yourself' is to have the ability to think apart from 'things you read in a book or stuff from nasa,' and parrot it back. (Like what your doing with the youtube posts.)

It is the ability to take the same information and come to a conclusion that in this case may conflict with nasa or your book.

Just his understanding of christianity as a whole and atheism.

ROFLOL
Omg...

Your whole "christianity ending arguement" comes from you tube. You make no commentary of your own, what are any of us supposed to think?

Obedience =\= the inability to think for ones self.

I have placed a great effort in research and on seeking the truth. I have found God. As such I also find the most beneficial course of action is for me to do as I am told.

You see Dirch i could be like you and be ignorant of the world and follow a religious teaching and be engulfed in it to a point i cannot think clearly for myself and even say no that is wrong to every argument of science there is. But no i am a bigger person than you. I will go as far to say is i don't like you i am borderline of hatred towards you but ill be the bigger person. You learned such inaccurate things from a bible that couldn't stand a day in court against science and will argue yes huh and you know what the sad part is.... Other countries think Americans are fucking stupid because well..... look how much smart people there is to religious and its not even funny. Your a dumb piece of shit Dirch... i really do not care what you say about me anymore.

ROFLOL
... Do you know,

ROFLOL

Just keep up the good work!

Woah seriously? What in the world did he do to deserve a response as yours?

This is An Atheist forum. For some this is par for the course.

It's cool to try and shake/destroy the foundations of a person who believes in God, but it is a an unforgivable social sin to have ones own pride/intellegence questioned.

That’s great because I have too. The interesting thing is that I’ve come to the exact opposite conclusion you have and as such I find that the most beneficial course of action is to think for myself.

People who rely most on God rely least on themselves.

Washburn seems to have a grip on common sense.

If one relays on God, then one does not have to rely on self.

Yeah? 1st gen american or your parents were hippies? I've been getting nebulous vibes since you joined (patterns of speech, hints of cultural trappings) and I can't remember whether or not I've asked before. I've long wondered what went into creating you.

Probably a little better than you do.

Proverbs is what is known as a book of wisdom, and is apart of what is known to the jews as 'The writtings.' The writtings contain everything not prophetic, historical or the law. Meaning there are no commands in the book of proverbs. That is why I asked you if you understood the term proverb. It was a hint to what was in the book and why it was named proverbs. Proverbs contain little bits of wisdom like: a penny saved is a penny earned, or the early bird gets the worm. To say 'lean not unto your own understanding' is a command, is just as foolish as saying one must save all pennies as per the law.

You were born a Buddhist huh Drich? So why aren't you still a Buddhist if you should just "do what you are told"?

Dad was/ is a redneck hippy. Which means he does whatever he wants, and when questioned says don't judge me or don't be judgemental, or quotes some spiritualist propaganda he has butchered up to justify his choices. He has adopted the cream (stuff he likes) from both cultures and ignored everything he doesn't.

My mother from Seoul Korea

My mom met my dad in '72 at a roller rink (roller skating rink) with English she learned from watching Tv. So her English was limited. She was arranged to marry some Korean doctor, but decided to marry for 'love' instead and here I am two/three year after the were married.

So both depending which side of the family you view from.
