Then, even by their definition, it is still sexist.
If a gender does not have the freedom to choose their own role, it is sexist.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

It depends where they fall on the religious spectrum. Your hardcore conservative Christians definitely believe that the household decisions are to be made by the man and the woman's opinion is secondary, however, there are plenty of more liberal-minded Christians that see the sexes as having equal power in a relationship.
