Two, that at least some of the "good" people suffered illness and death before all of the "bad" people did. Wouldn't it have been more convincing if everyone who stayed got sick, or if only the "bad" ones did while the "good" ones got the urge to join you? Otherwise it doesn't seem like something done according to plan as much as it is just a combination of coincidence and selection bias.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I personally had some tell me they had done the wrong thing and had been very bad people, others came and apologized to us at our new church. They tested God and realized He wasn't going to put up with people tearing apart His work, most of those people are dead now or seriously ill and they lost their church building a little while back because new people were not joining and they had to few people to be able to pay the bills. As someone whose new wife suffers from a series of chronic illnesses that cause her immense pain and suffering on an almost daily basis, I can say that if your god exists, and he finds this kind of illness to be an appropriate response to any kind of action, then he is an immoral psychopath who neither deserves respect or worship, nor should even expect it. If you then accept that god's actions as at all moral or deserved, then Chas was right on the money when he called you morally bankrupt. What is wrong with you, that you see what you perceive to be god killing people and striking them down with persistent illness, and your conclusion is "yes, this is an appropriate, proportionate response to people screwing around with a church, from a moral god."? If God had appeared in a flash of light and explicitly said what he wanted. But then, free will right? Two groups who both think they are doing my will. Will let them both get on with it, then fuck up the ones who got it wrong. Yeah, that seems legit.

For someone who is supposed to be all loving, all powerful and all wise, bible god sure is a hateful little shit. What kind of deity would get its widdle fweelings hurt and seek revenge over what some puny human did or said? A fictitious one invented by brutal men trying to control people through idle threats! Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
I find it hilarious that in this thread a theist is insisting that God kills people for trivial things, while in another thread we're all wondering why God doesn't take down the people who are threatening his personal favorite person on Earth.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
