My point wasn't to say that you were wrong, just to show how the ease with which the Bible can be interpreted makes a wide range of approaches 'valid.' The people who play with poisonous serpents may seem more devout under one interpretation, and less devout under another.

I was actually thinking about the one in Mark, so that was my mistake.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Me too.
And even if there is the occasional problem with a faltering of faith, a nearby True Christian can correct the situation with a simple laying on of the hands.
We can note True Christians by this characteristic too. Probably handy to keep a couple around the congregation at all times.
If there is a true need of a healing (and the True Christian was not party to setting up the situation) then you would have a case that is not a test of God, so that objection while perhaps applicable to the deadly serpent molester, would not apply to a True Christian in regards to a sudden need for a healing.
I'm thinking a 3 year old child in the back of the church with failing grades in Sunday School, and therefore unSaved at this point, set upon by a wayward serpent no one else noticed had gone vagabond, would not be a test of God kind of situation. How could the responsible parents be expected to anticipate a deadly serpent making it all the way to the back of the church in the first place ??

Exactly,
"They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them;'
In other words, if you happen to get bitten by accident, like Paul did for example, that scripture applies. But the Bible also clearly states not to "test" God.
Right. And why is that?
Oh, yeah.... like all superstitious twits.

Exactly if theists snake handlers cannot do that they cannot handle snakes.

And to reiterate, folks claiming Christianity that aren't Literalist and Inerrantist are apostates.
This is another one of those Religion 101 moments. Everybody otta know shit like this, it should be drummed into their empty little juvenile Sunday School attending heads long ago. It's an outrage we have adults running around, claiming Christian affiliation, and not knowing basic tenets of their faith.
