I've been told otherwise, because you can't ask forgiveness after committing suicide.

On the forum for Catholic Answers I was told that suicide isn't considered a sin by the Catholic church anymore. The reasoning was that sin has to be an act that you commit on purpose and with full knowledge that you are sinning. A person suffering severe depression might not be fully comprehend their actions. At least, that is what I remember being told. It has been many years since I visited that forum so I might have their rational a bit muddled but I do remember that several of the posters claimed that suicide wasn't a sin anymore

So god wasn't happy with the his creation (fuck up #1) so he sent a flood to destroy everything except...(you know the fairy tale)

God wasn't happy again with his creation (fuck up#2) so he sent himself/son to die to fix all the problems (sin)

God (as foretold in revelation) will be mad at us again (fuck up #3) so he will end the world once again.

My only question is will he restart us again?

My dad (72) has a pc. Whenever it does something he doesn't like, which includes when the Google home screen changes, when there are too many windows open, or when anything creates a popup, he switches it off at the wall, then reboots it.

I've been telling him off for years for this, now I'm wondering if his technique is in fact divinely inspired!

Just destroying everything and starting over is actually a sign that you don't really know how to deal with the situation. Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, as Isaac Asimov says, and about the only way Yahweh ever deals with Humans is to destroy, or threaten to destroy them, if they don't stay in line.

Haha. One of the AXP guys said the most common interaction God has with people in the bible is killing them.

He's a very violent individual who at least once purposefully sat on his hands while neighboring tribes did what they wanted, just so he'd have an excuse to have them killed. They say he's a god of love, and there's a verse that explains what love is. Yahweh doesn't meet the bible's own definition, because one of the criteria is selflessness.

So god impregnates a 14 year old girl and that being said he turned into said person jesus christ. Well we know how this would go if it was a episode of Maury. Anyways a 14 year old girl and god being obviously really old is and yes god is a pedo. Anyways back on topic why would god need to sacrifice himself/son because he is dying for himself to please himself. That in a way is like spiritual masturbation.. does god have a kink for being tortured and watching people be tortured and suffer. Back on track god died for himself so then in turn you guys go and praise him/jesus to get into heaven. Doesn't putting all your sin on someone who probably doesn't exist is kinda fucked up i mean you should held accountable for your own "sins" and explain to god why you did such things instead of putting it on a spiritual punching. That is all.

Well, its quite simple really. The punishment for sin is death, you should, by rights, die. But God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so that he who may believe shall have eternal life. You will be held accountable for your sins, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments".

Wouldn't it have been a lot simpler to just say "behave and I'll reward you" without the whole convoluted part where he simulates killing himself in order to present himself with a check to himself on behalf of everyone else?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

His only son, which is actually him, that he raised up and rules the cosmos as himself. I feel like "publicity stunt" isn't a strong enough word to describe this.
