Woman cured of disease by DNA mutation

Woman cured of disease by DNA mutation
Quote:The cure was traced back to a mutation in a single cell in her bone marrow.

An event called "chromosomal shattering" in which a part of the DNA is rearranged led to 164 genes being lopped out of her DNA.

Crucially this included the mutated one that was causing the problem.

If this had happened in a muscle cell it would have made no difference to her. But it took place in a stem cell that manufactures immune cells.

That cell was able to gradually take over the bone marrow and was the starting point for a new immune system that could get into the bloodstream.

Dr Murphy told the BBC News website: "It is really kind of remarkable, she started out as this very unlucky girl and ended up winning the lottery by having this incredibly rare event, the only one reported in the world to date that basically.

"She no longer has warts, is no longer [more] susceptible to infections and no longer has blood abnormalities.

Jeebus!
"Every luxury has a deep price. Every indulgence, a cosmic cost. Each fiber of pleasure you experience causes equivalent pain somewhere else. This is the first law of emodynamics [sic]. Joy can be neither created nor destroyed. The balance of happiness is constant.

Fact: Every time you eat a bite of cake, someone gets horsewhipped.

Facter: Every time two people kiss, an orphanage collapses.

Factest: Every time a baby is born, an innocent animal is severely mocked for its physical appearance. Don't be a pleasure hog. Your every smile is a dagger. Happiness is murder.

Vote "yes" on Proposition 1321. Think of some kids. Some kids."

'Mutation', me arse. Clearly, this was a miracle. God - in His infinite gooditude - was kind and wise enough to let this woman suffer for years before He tweaked her DNA. Furthermore, He gave this disfiguring, dangerous malady to two of her children, so that they might also know the goodness and mercy of the Lord.

NB for the humour impaired: The above is what is known as a 'pre-emptive strike'. Thank you.

Can't rule out Satan healing a faithful minion, can we ??

If she wasn't a member of the One True Faith, we can know with certainty God did not heal her.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Brothers and sisters, as you all remember, NO mutation could possibly ever be beneficial. Mutations only result in monstrosities and deformities, as they are a corruption of our LORD's perfect creation!

Maybe she was A/S/King her ass off?
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Sickle cell anaemia is caused by a mutation with some bad side effects, but one evolutionary advantage, is that it helps protect against malaria. It is thought to have arisen in Africa, where there is rife malaria.
