Ok. Let's start over:

If your god is perfect, and he's the same god that 2.2 billion Christians worship, how is it he failed to communicate to half of them that they're actually worshipping Satan? Wouldn't he want them to realize that? Why doesn't he make that clearer? You saying that we're the problem doesn't really help those who think they're doing it right. It seems to me that the being who wants them to do it right would help them out.

He has the Word. Just like the catholics and orthodoxy have the word. I'm sure they feel it just as strongly as the prof ever did. Not to mention the jews and muslims.

If an adult is in charge of a child, and the child turns bad, you could blame the child. the more children the adult has, that turn bad, the more likely it is the adult's problem. The bible tells a story about a god who created a world, cursed it when someone did something he didn't like, and repeatedly failed to get his creation to a point where he liked it. Surely part of the responsibility is on the people who want to follow him, but he bears some responsibility as well.

Given that his own followers have waged wars against each other over how to do as he commands, it's hard to not judge him poorly on it. At least find a way to get everyone who wants to worship you to get along well enough to be a good example for the non believers. How difficult is that?

I have a question for all of you Christians out there. How the fuck do you sleep at night? You're subscribing to a religion which bases its survival on people's weaknesses and exploits them. Does that bother you at all, or do you refuse to acknowledge it?

The very idea that you need to baptised before you're a human being is disgusting. We're god's perfect creation, but we're born sick? God is merciful and forgiving, but won't let you into his VIP club in the afterlife if you don't get water poured over your head?
The idea of confession isn't any better. Because the priests are obviously such better people than you, they will listen to all your human little misdeeds and oh so mercifully forgive you. It's sickening.
Religion also enforces the idea of thought crime. That's nothing more but a neat little trick to make people feel even more guilty for something they can't control. Your very thoughts are sinful. It does make a lot of sense, though: if you punish people for thinking, they might stop doing it, eventually.

The question that bugs me is, do all those priests, pastors and bishops really believe the bullshit they're preaching or did they just get a neat deal of deceiving the gullible and making money off of it?

Most people are completely blind to the harm their religion does to others. I know enough enough poor pastors to know they're not all in it for the money.

I came into this thread thinking I was going to get all my complaints against Christianity and Christians out and feel relieved. The truth is, most people are good. Most people are just going about their lives trying to be the best they can be. Sure, there are people who do terrible things, especially in the name of religions, but I think the vast majority of them truly believe they're doing what's right.

You can never move on until choose to stop trying to understand them and start trying to heal and understand yourself. Good luck. Lots of hugs and love. It isn't easy to recover from religion when you've been abused and traumatized by it, but you're most certainly not alone.

Here is the deal- Christianity pre-dates Catholicism by over 300 years including the books of the bible.

Constantine was inspired (by the pitchfork bearing- horned one) to declare Christianity the religion of the empire, the pagan special dates were re-badged, priests and bishops became part of the system.
True Christianity had to go underground and were called "Heretics".
Catholicism is at it's core (the mass) a sacrifice ceremony which adherents believe (participating in) cleanses them (till the next mass anyway).
It cleverly uses Christian jargon but replaces the meanings with BS.

What they did is gloss over texts which contradict their teachings (like " In the last days some will DEPART from the faith- forbidding to marry and forbidding to eat meats"..) ( or "Call no man "Father" - (in the place of God), you have one Father who is God).
The Roman universal church negates the return of Jesus and the Millennium rule which is dead ahead of us.

So many damaged and misinformed people here with regards to God and the bible. This must be therepitic for some to God bash. Fact is bible strongly suggests that God loves us. The greatest act of love is self sacrifice for someone. Jesus died for us. You cant accuse God of nothing at judgement day. God offered you eternal life and you refused. Yes there Iis ahell like there is life imprisonment for commiting murder. Reward and punishment is a part of life.
