The evidence for God is there in the existence of the universe. I think we just interpret the evidence differently. Some people see it and say "it can't be God, so I''ll just wait until science figures it out". Most people get it, but there always has and probably always will be, those who close their eyes to it or just don't get it. To answer your question Dyresand, I can't prove it to you scientifically. You just have to open up and see it.
We need a divine creator to create the universe! Ok, now how do we get from "divine creator" to "Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life"?
You have to be in the right mindset? The problem is, you can believe anything if you're in the right mindset. That doesn't make it true. At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
Can you demonstrate this?

You just have to open up and see it. If you showed a plasma TV to Isaac Newton he'd probably run away screaming something about "witchcraft". Science can, and does, figure it out.
I reject your reality and substitute my own!

In fact, the deeper they study, the closer they come to the "how" of creation, the less necessary any gawd becomes.

The more we know, the less we see of gods, and the fewer gaps you can put your god in. Even if you send him back to the beginning of the universe, it will only get you as far as deism. It doesn't help the case for theism.
