Atheism is only compelling when it's reached for the right reason, and if this was all the evidence he needed, I don't think he was as rational and logical as he thinks he was.

His conclusion is extremely self-centered given that God was inactive when it came to stopping the molestation, but all of sudden god feels the need to intervene when it comes to bringing him into the fold by having a little girl speak up about abuse.

This is just another case of ego overriding rationality and a man claiming to be rational but willing to abandon reason at a moment's notice.

After all the Christians who've been here over the years and all they've shown about the way God works, you're still as clueless as the day you were born. Blind might be a strong enough word for the atheist here, let's try ignorantly, selfishly blind, just for starters. A man finds happiness and gives help to a little girl that humanity let down and all you can do is be sullen.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

I am not miserable at all.

in fact, my life became so much happier once I dropped the unfounded belief that some of my friends, relatives and the vast majority of humanity were going to be tortured for eternity for finite thought crimes.

Eliminating my false beliefs was the best thing I ever did.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

You really are clueless, aren't you?

No one here is sullen that an an abused girl is going to get help or that someone found joy in helping her. We just don't buy the bullshit that an omnipotent gawd allowed her to be brutalized just so it could gather one more soul to itself.

I think it pisses you off that there are people who have found joy and contentment in life without the crutch of religion.

GC

Good things happen = god
Bad things happen = not god

Seems legit.

The sexual abuse of a young girl=humans should have helped her
the same young girl used to bring an atheist to god=an example of god's love

They have never shown us how 'God' works, They have relayed stories that they attribute to their god. No evidence, just anecdotes. Sorry, unimpressed.

I'm not blind to your and other Christian's unsupported assertions. I am just not gullible. I am open to accepting that a god exists, all I require is demonstrable evidence and reasoned argument to support the claim. If the arguments that you and other Christians provide are the best there are, I will remain an unbeliever.

It is great that a little girl was helped. But there is no need to evoke a god in this story. Little Christian girls are abused at the same rate as non-Christian girls. Non-Christian girls are helped at the same rate as Christian girls.

Yeah... About that - God just... errr... "targeted" me to tell you, that you're a dumb-ass. You can't prove He didn't. So there, Dumb-ass. Tongue

Have your fun with me, that's okay, but to use this girl in such an irresponsible way is shameful. This little girl suffered at the hands of man and no one absolutely no one did a thing, someone knew they always do. God brought these two people together, to help them both and you are unfeeling for either. Using both to hammer down on a man that has found happiness and worth through God. Using both of them to relieve yourself from the possibility the man is right, you are wrong and the girl and man both have found happiness, a happiness you can't even imagine.

Quote:Using people as tools for communication with your imaginary friends is one of the stupidest results of religious indoctrination. If God wants to speak to you, or me, or anyone - He can bloody well do it personally.

Really, just how do you know this, are you privy to the mind of God, God speaks to people as He chooses, He doesn't need you to tell Him what's best.

As for using people as tools for communication being stupid, have it your way, but there's no denying the fact it worked out very well for these to people.

Quote: He doesn't have to have a child raped by a family member and then tell you about it. What kind of psychotic god would do that? Is that who you pray to? Well, then - good luck with that.

You've made a statement here, now you need to prove you know enough about God to prove He had her raped. The guilty person was a pedaphile, one sick minded person, who chose to ruin a girls life for his sick pleasure. I believe my case holds all the water and you're holding an empty bucket.

Quote:Child gets raped - an opportunistic zealot takes the attention. Who cares what he believes? It's his damn business. F*** him.

A child gets raped and all you are concerned about is loosing one of your kind to God, God didn't steal him, he accepted God's invitation through His Son. Praise be to God.

Not the first atheist here has said a thing about how good it was she found help, why, because God was involved, so yes sullen. I do not believe God allowed her to be abused by a pedophile, the man did it of his own accord. God brought two hurting people together and brought healing to both. It's you that's blind, God gave an opportunity to each one and they both chose to accept and that's grieving you to no end. If this day hadn't happened they both could still be living in misery, this day happened because of Christianity and the God who mad it available to all.

Quote:I think it pisses you off that there are people who have found joy and contentment in life without the crutch of religion.

God's allowing you your joy before your doom, this is your heaven unless you decided to take God up on His offer.
