Violence is the Natural conclusion of Religion.

RE: Violence is the Natural conclusion of Religion.
I wouldn't say that violence necessary originates from religion in general. Common believers tend to be more or less inert even in spite of the fact that the scriptures may contain direct calls for violence. They just don't have enough time or motivation to go into details. Normal religious philosophers and priests try to cherry-pick the texts to avoid tension. This depends on the religion and denomination of course. Usually it's the fundies who are violent. Speaking of fundies, they must be such a sort of people who are prone to antogonization and extremities no matter what guise they use. Religion just happens to be very convenient for fulfilling their urges.

If you're a literalist of any Abrahamic religion, violence against non believers or the ones going against scripture, is the natural conclusion.

I don't deny there are a lot of decent religious persons. But literalists are a different matter entirely. If they only pray for your demise - as we could observe on this very board - you're lucky. Some actually take action.

RE: Violence is the Natural conclusion of Religion.
Violence and religion always been hand in hand for the most not if all parts of human history and other variables.
You don't need to believe in god to commit a crime but its such a low statistic to those who believe in a god they commit more crimes.
I am not sure why though but religion clearly plays into violence because most people believe in god chances are higher they would commit a crime.
But take it away i am not too entirely sure maybe religion does play a big role into why people are violent.
Not to blame religious people entirely or religion there has too be something more that caused them to do such actions.
Atheism is a non-prophet organization join today.

I think a following something without much thought is more of the conclusion then it is violence. Its just that usually the people who are in lead of the cult like to use the following to cause violence in ways they couldn't if people didn't follow them to no end.
