She told us that there were demonic forces in Africa that are not present in the US. As an example, she told us that while her group were praying with locals, some sort of whirling wind(Maybe it was a dusty devil?) went through their location and scattered the people praying. She said that it was the devil trying to stop their missionary work.

You will always remember her because of her stupid story. She has gained a certain amount of immortality.

Maybe god was taking a bathe and didn't want to answer the god phone?

Some Christians have created a devil that is a lot more powerful than their own deity.

I have a loved horror movies and novels for nearly my entire life. My mother worried that I'd 'invite' demonic forces into my life. She wasn't particularly religious but if my car broke down or I got sick, she always asked if I had read something scary. For proof of her weird views, she told me about her cousin who read some sort of book(or watched a scary movie) and saw a demonic figure in her house. My mother was a bit of a loon, by the way.

When my mom died, her cousins from SC attended the funeral. I barely knew these people. One of the women sort of tried to pick up my dead mother's boyfriend at the funeral. The same woman's brother told us an off color story about his parents' sex life and then put his arm around my brother and me so we couldn't escape. He then began to preach/pray to us because he wanted to make certain that we learned from the funeral that god was necessary. His sisters explained that he was a preacher and seemed to think that should excuse the awkward evangelizing.

Anyways, what's the dumbest religious story you've ever heard? I once heard that a woman thought Jesus was talking to her through a goldfish... yes, the snack Worship

They are all equally stupid.

The whole "story" of Joesph Smith is the most far fetched one I have heard yet.. except maybe seeing Jesus on a piece of toast or in the sand.

Probably it was literally a dust devil. And they were praying for god to rid the worlds of gays, I'm sure. That's what they usually do in Africa.

As for stupidest I would always go with the trinity. The explanations for Jesus' sacrifice being meaningful are always hilarious.

You probably haven't seen Jesus in birdshit yet. True story by some Ohio nutjob.

I have always wondered why Eve and the snake weren't the heroes of the story.

I can't quite agree with you, as it is possible to be only slightly stupid, but so many stories are so stupid, that the extremeness of their stupidity is impossible to rate. Once one reaches a certain level of stupidity, there really isn't any more stupid that one can get.
