The Reasons why "Just Following Jesus" Doesn't work
March 22, 2015 at 9:36 am
I'm sure that you have met some of those Christians that say they aren't like the "bad Christians" they throw out the old testament and just follow the words of nice cuddly Jesus, well that doesn't work either.

Jesus does act better than Yahweh. Which really isn't saying a whole lot. It's like saying guy A is an asshole, but at least he's not a complete psychopath like guy B is. Although you still have people saying guy A is guy B showing his nicer side. Which in the end still isn't all that great.

Dude, I love your video! I know a lot of Christians who are that same way... Just paying attention to "jesus". I of course am still a novice (except the Book of Mormon of course) and man they like skip over a lot of this stuff in the bible. I guess that's why I always hear "You need to read the Gospel of John". Amazing videos man keep posting them. :-)

It's the old "good god, bad god" routine.
Surprised anyone fell for it.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I thought "Jesus is dead" is by its very self more than a good enough reason why following Jesus won't ever work.

Although I agree with him, he is using logic when cafeteria Christians aren't using logic. So, yeah, it makes no sense to follow nice Jesus and throw out the Old Testament. The Old Testament explains why Jesus is needed according to their religion. The bible says that god does not change so the evil god of the Old Testament is still Jesus. The problem is that Christians don't really give a flying flip about logic or what their bible says.
In the story about the Canaanite woman, Jesus does eventually cure her daughter after she begs. He doesn't make the Roman soldier beg him to cure his servant.
Matthew 8
5And when Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, imploring Him, 6and saying, "Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, fearfully tormented." 7Jesus said to him, "I will come and heal him."" 8But the centurion said, "Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed
See, the Roman Centurion didn't have to plead or compare himself to a dog for Jesus to come to his house.

It reminds me of a Buddhist lecture I was dragged to. The lecturer went on in length about how modern medical science confirms the teaching of the Buddha about inner peace. Eventually someone asked the lecturer:"so you believe in science and reason, and that confirmed your Buddhist faith?". The monk replied "Not at all, I only believe in the wisdom of the living Buddha, but if I say science confirms Buddha, I can get you to believe in the wisdom of the living Buddha as well"

And a related question:
Why don't more christers try following Jesus instead of just beseeching atheists to do it ?
When's the last time the christers went and zorched a Fig Newton display at Kroger ?

Jesus is a dick, he created a fig tree with the limitation of only being able to produce figs at a certain time of year and then killed the tree for having that limitation.

Like how Yahweh creates us with free will, then punishes us for thinking differently from him. He's willing to kill/torture the majority of humanity just so a few people will choose to be slaves.
