DBP: yeah, if the character is written to be a shit to try and make atheists look bad, that is a cheap trick.

Actually materialism is something that I hadn't considered and would HUGELY detrimental in our current society I think. Imagine not being able to go to the store and just get whatever you want anymore, or having the knowledge that no new video games were ever going to get made. This was an awesome post, thank you! I think it would be stupidity compounded to commit suicide after finding out your god or gods don't exist. You are faced with the fact that there is nothing after you die, so you want to hurt up and end that incredibly small (on the cosmic scale) slice of existence you have? Are believers really that stupid? Not all of them, some are EX-believers.
