Hey op, what sort of music do you like? The reason I ask is because there is a band called rush, very different sounding too. One thing is that all 3 band members are atheists, and while they aren't preachy about it they have made some amazing songs expressing their pov. Here is a list to check out.

Tell them you are going because you are the adult and they are the children, and you are taking them to their childish game.

What do you mean "make it on your own"? I have three years left before I go to college. Hiding who I am from them doesn't change the fact that they despise me, but it does prevent them from being aggressive towards me and making my life worse. Do you not see the problem? You didn't answer what were your parents like when you were a teenager and what you believed. What do you suggest I or DJ do? Move out?
Finding out if they accept me? I have heard say hateful things that lead me to believe they wouldn't. It's not worth the risk.

I have some respect left for my parents, arguing with them like that would be nonsensical, it would achieve nothing. I can't take your advice seriously when you think coming out to your religious parents is a good idea when your gay, thats such a bad idea

It's up to you how you do it and to what extent, but 16 is that ripe age where you have to start asserting your own autonomy. You don't have to be direct with it, but start letting them know that you are your own person with your own mind and beliefs. If you sit back and simply let your parents plan your life for you, things are going to eventually get very unpleasant.
You don't have to do anything drastic, mind you, and you can assert yourself without undermining your parents authority. Staying silent about the whole thing, however, is just going perpetuate in their mind the idea that you are a person to shape and mold as they please.

I literally just saw this yesterday and was thinking about it now.
I know someone who was going through this and they sent me this video, apparently the song is helping him go through the problem.

But what is their conditional acceptance worth? How much does their acceptance mean to you if you know they would throw it all away based on some silly belief?
