2016 Elections

RE: 2016 Elections
I just feel like I'm selling my integrity by voting against one candidate as opposed to voting for the other. I think the system is doomed without a major overhaul, and as it stands, my one vote's actual value can only be measured on some sort of Planck scale. I think the only viable option at this point is to be against the established system in its entirety and refuse to vote.

I can honestly state I have not voted since I was first legally able to do so.  I voted against Bush, and the stupid bitch won his second term anyway.

Obama has done well without my vote, do you not agree?

Anyway, I was thinking I might just get back into voting if Hilary is allowed to become a candidate.

If she doesn't make it, I will not vote. Simple.

In what direction will you go, even though it might be too early to determine?

I really wish Warren would run, I think she would clobber all the GOP nutbags. Hillary is still polling very well against the GOP, but I am not with some that think she is unbeatable. She cannot make the same mistakes she did against Obama and she still has the Clinton name which the GOP has never liked.

But as far as not voting, if you value workers rights and women's rights not voting would be a mistake no matter who dems nominate. America cannot afford more corporate welfare.

Dems need to step it up think long term, and no matter how small the voice, post something every day often somewhere on party pages, social media, and news websites and politicians websites. The GOP has for far too long controlled the narrative and they think long term.

Then...as happens every mid-term....the republicunts win.  The only thing saving us right now is that every 4 years people get off their asses and smack the republicunts down.  Otherwise, we go over the cliff.  The system isn't going anywhere.  That's a pipe dream.

I agree Elizabeth Warren would be the best Democrat.  That being said, I don't think she will run.

I swear to gawd if it is a bush the turd and clinton election AGAIN I will move to England.  Cant this country produce any better people for the top position then these recycled politicians?

If you think that way sure, I think dems can win midterms they just have to be willing and strong enough and think long term and everyday.

Nothing wrong with our system at all, it is how one party has gamed it that is the problem. You let them win then you get what you deserve. If we can beat Carl Rove and the Koch brothers in two presidential elections I see no reason other than voter apathy stopping us from winning midterms.

It took 30 years for the GOP to put us in this mess. I do see however times changing and workers pushing back. It isn't one day or one election, this for dems has to use the same long term thinking the GOP has unfortunately and successful done. But we can undo it. I am not giving up.

Every voice counts, every day, big voices and small voices. It does add up.

Even outside the issue of politics, seeing how small the atheist voice was in 01 compared to now and the tons of famous atheists authors and scientists and tons of atheist websites and seeing stories about atheists on the web now, it is night and day.

If we apply every voice we can everywhere we can every day, it does add up.

Odd.  I see American apathy as palpable.

We are the problem.

And, it starts with you. Never underestimate the power of one voice, your voice. You don't have to be famous or rich, all you have to do is contribute consistently with your voice. Social media is dirt cheap and you can speak to all sorts of people, like minded, news media, and politicians. It does add up.

I know if had not been for a Chicago nurse who submitted her opinion as an atheist back in 01 about 9/11 to AP newswire that went national to many local papers, if it had not been for reading that one voice, I don't know if I would have lost my fear of what people thought of my being an atheist. Her putting herself out there motivated me. I don't remember her name, and I will never be able to thank her, but that one single voice started me to be active online daily.

How did the Arab Spring work out in Cairo?

If you recall that began because there were no jobs; unemployment was sky high, and kids with college degrees were shoveling camel shit at the Giza Pyramids and that was a good job if you could get it.  They took to the streets and brought down the government and now are right back in the same shit hole they were before.

I kept wondering why American kids weren't out protesting since they were suffering from the same problems with the added fillip of crushing student debt.  They were content to stay in mommy's basement waiting for the next app to come out for their cell phones.

It's only a pipe dream in the sense that we allow it to be.  If we had enough people collected together that organized in a refusal to work within this broken system until it is fixed, it could be done.  These political systems only exist as long as individuals with no power choose not to organize and bring the system down.   Collectively, the people that are being trampled on could squash the elite and leave them out to dry.

That's why the system is so frustrating, because theoretically, it can be fixed.  It's only when you bring in the human factor and our inability to coalesce that doing so becomes a pipe dream.

By voting for the lesser of two evils, I would just be perpetuating a doomed system, but by not voting, I'm allowing the craziest of crazies to take the reigns.  It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation, and I tear my hair out in frustration every time elections roll around.
