It's an interesting transcription to read in book form, or to watch as a series of shows, called "The Power of Myth."
They're not bastardizations of the Hero's Journey, they are all stories told using the framework of the Hero's Journey. If they were a bastardization of it, the Hero's Journey would have to have been its own story at one point, and it has never been. The Hero's Journey is the armature upon which the sculpture is created.
Yeah, no one is due any royalties here. The hero's journey isn't anything we use so much as something that uses us. It is a reflection of something that appeals to us across cultures, yet more evidence that we are not blank tablets at birth.

That was George Lucas officially taking a shit on the franchise, so I feel like there's no room for further disappointment. It will either be pleasantly surprising or meet the expectations set by the last three movies.
The new trailor made things look siutably beaten up. The prequels suffered by having a shiny, new and unconvincing looking universe.
But they had the financial backing of the Republic/Empire at that time. The Rebellion had to cobble shit together... I tell myself.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."
For context, this is the previous verse:

So after watching the trailer a good 20 or so times and ejaculating upon each view like clockwork, I'd say my body is pretty fucking ready
That's all, carry on...

So, am I ridiculous for fearing going to the movies now? Especially the high profile flicks like Star Wars. I skipped taking my daughter to Jurassic World for this reason, since a shooting occurred recently before or during its release.

Ridiculous? No.
Paranoid? Maybe a little.
This fear is being fed by media hype. Sensational events are massively covered by the media and it gives the public at large an over-inflated sense of danger about what, in reality, is a pretty rare event.
You're ultimately playing the odds - with everything, not just with going to the movies. Think of how many movie screens there are in the US (about 39,000), and how many shootings have taken place at movie theaters (what, 3 or 4 over the last 4 years?). Without trying to make you more paranoid, you should be more worried about getting into a car accident on the way to the theater than you should be about being shot once you're there. The chances are very, very good that you can go to the movies and enjoy your time with your daughter without having to worry about a shooting taking place.
If you're really worried, don't go at peak times.

Oh, it's paranoia big time. I know the odds are that it won't happen, and even less so that it'll happen to me. I have the same feeling about airplanes and cars. I know I'm more likely to be in a car accident than a plane crash, but I'd rather be in a car accident.
I have the same paranoia about sending her to school. If I had the means, I'd pull her out and home school her. In fact, I've fantasizes about getting as large of a group as I could to pull kids out of school as an anti-gun movement, but that's a pretty big target to paint on yourself, and it's pretty unrealistic.
Anyhow, Star Wars. Think they should have stricter light saber laws?

But that's pretty reasonable: the odds are better that you'll survive a car crash than a plane crash. Plane crashes are less frequent, but the fatality rate is higher.

They should have better light saber design than the stupid one from this upcoming movie...
