Too young to be an atheist...

So I came tired from school today, I sat down on my bed and just chilled whilst listening to some Tool. My parents were gone shopping so I was the only one home. I suddenly get a knock on my door so I opened it to find Jehova's witness. They guy started to speak about how amazing Jesus is. The bullsh*t was intensifying. So, I just interrupted him and told him that I don't believe in that crap and that I'm an atheist and I politely asked him to leave. But no, instead he asks me this magnificent question "You! An atheist! That can't be you're too young to be one! Are you sure?". He left me speechless. With no response I just slammed the door.
Any thoughts on this?

What the hell? Too young? I have no idea what that is supposed to mean. It's not like you've signed up for atheist brain surgery or something. They probably have some demented idea about what an atheist is.
Preaching at people's doors is damn rude and you have every right to shut the door on them in my opinion.

Well, not so much of a thought per se, and more of an impolite noise.
But that attitude reminds me of some of the religious instruction teachers at school who would basically refuse to acknowledge that we could have the mental capacity to have a valid (differing) opinion on religion. Which is funny because protestants hold confirmation when you're 14, arguing that that's the age where you can consent to having a faith.

When approached by a JW say you're already a JW
They won't leave, but you'll have the element of surprise working for you and you can shut the door in the meantime

He was prolly just shocked that there are kids able to think for themselves, doesn't happen often in religious environments

Evangelical types are used to children being indoctrinated from the get-go. They go around trying to convert adults, not kids. So, your declaration of atheism essentially short circuited his programming.
