Why would God negotiate with Abraham about the people in the city? Why didn't God keep lot from getting raped? And much more. Not compared to your stupid, fucking, buy-bull, G-C. I think that the god of the Bible is pretty poorly defined, and there isn't really a place where a comprehensive description can be found. As with so much of the Bible, the bits and pieces that are scattered all about can be taken to create a pretty wide range of gods. It just depends on which bits you select and which you leave out. You could probably use several different verses to show god to be a normal human being, and several others to show him as an unstoppable force of nature.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Yeah, people frequently post pictures when they don't have a real response.

You posted a bunch of garbage that can be boiled down to "Don't think about it, because god is wise and awesome because he is." There's not much to respond to, beyond you demonstrating the typical apologist circular logic, as though it's somehow not fallacious and compelling. You gotta do better than that. My main beef is the popular, "god is perfect and/or does things in mysterious ways because he's infallible" crap. It's such a BS position to hold when mortals regularly confounded his plans in the OT. The apologists' reply is essentially "Tis only a flesh wound!"

If you want logic, here's some:
People are emotional and logical beings. More emotional than logical in my experience. God is portrayed as both an emotional and logical being. Logic tells me that when one emotional being communicates to another emotional being at length, the communication is likely to involve quite a bit of emotion. What I find illogical is your position that you would expect such communication to be logical like computer code. Quote:You gotta do better than that. He can't. Quote:If you want logic, here's some: I want facts, not what passes for logic in the mind of someone who believes in fairy tales. Why would he? You reach emotional beings through emotions. That's why I see less logic and more memes coming from atheists. |
