Revolution. The Queen has the power to abdicate and disband the monarchy. All you'd need to do is threaten her with a civil war, or have a large amount of the citizenship on your side. Hence why the more people we convert to anti-monarchism, the easier it'll be.

Sounds like the mid 16 hundreds English rebellion against the monarchy. Only this time, no violence. That is one way yes. However, you will need many many supporters. Very vocal supporters. Still a huge hill to climb. One thing I didn't like reading in that link you put in your earlier post was this - Quote:the people of Britain are not citizens, but subjects of the monarch. Most public servants must swear an oath of loyalty, or make an affirmation of their loyalty, to the crown.Didn't like that part. I'm no "subject"! Don't like the "servants" and "swear oath of loyalty" either. I really am with you on the anti-monarchy. How does the UR (United Republic) Sound to you? United Republic of Britain. Might take a while getting used to. So used to calling it the UK (United Kingdom).

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity. Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist. You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them. I'm somewhat interested in alternate 'history, but I admit that the American Revolution is not one I'd been thinking about. Mostly, what I've been thinking about is what would have happened if the Kyujo incident was successful and what the consequences of Operation Downfall would have been. I mean, sure, America would have beaten Japan, but what would running around in a nuked-out wasteland have done to American troops, or their descendants, for that matter?

If you don't have a queen you don't need a palace guard and thus you don't need to change the guard.
Besides, the horses are beautiful.
The national trust (a private charity) would probably be put in charge of all that. They already own a lot of tourist attractions in the UK, preserving them. Your argument is true in a respect, but then there isn't any reason to re-enact battles from history yet those are very popular. If the tourists want to see the changing of the guard, there isn't any reason why the national trust wouldn't provide it. They make a lot of money from tourist attractions.
Call me a traditionalist but "The National Trust Life Guards" does not have the same catchy ring as "The Queen's Life Guards."
Then call them the Queen's Life Guards. The National Trust doesn't go about renaming things, it goes about preserving them.
We have the changing of the guards here! And our Parliament looks exactly like some building in Westminster. The Queen is a ranking member of our Government. Sweet.
It is fascism, i think the CCTV cameras are the worst part, but I could be wrong. You live there. Let me say that America is no walk in the park these days either. It is good to be American, ideologically... |
