Quote:Instead of being so miffed, you should be thankful. The Christian religion has so profoundly affected public life in the West that you take certain civil values for granted. None of those values were present anywhere in the West until the Christian religion brought them in. Do you believe that people have human rights and deserve to be treated with dignity just because they are human? Then you have Christianity to thank for that.
This is laughably wrong.
Quote:Atheists that say they can be good without God are just freeloading off of uniquely Christian values like ‘love your neighbor as yourself’, the Golden Rule, and the brotherhood of Man.
Nonsense. My morality is based on the Golden Rule, which is not unique to Christianity, and empathy, which is notably lacking in the Christian god.
But hey, if it takes blind faith to keep you from being a murderous asshole, by all means, please keep believing.
Quote:I very much doubt that. Christians get offended but generally do not turn to violence. The worst thing a Christian will do is tell you the truth you don’t want to hear.
Never mind the fact that the Christian "truth" is a bunch of hooey -- I guess you've never heard of pogroms, or the Inquisition. Are they representative of modern Christianity? No. But read on ...
Quote:That said, I would not put a picture of Mohammed on your car.
Certainly not in America -- your car would be vandalized promptly in many parts of the country, due to Christian bigotry.

If that's the worst thing a Christian would do, then there cannot possibly be any Christians.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

As Chad as shown, Christian revisionism is much worse than any bumper sticker.
On a side note, is there anything Christians won't take credit for?

Cancer is Satan's fault, according to them. So are earthquakes, tsunamis, and Mariah Carey.

Well, it wouldn't take much to convince me that Mariah Carey was pure evil.

I don't know, but if she doesn't stop doing that over and over, she's going to throw her shoulder out of joint.

Factually wrong: ancient China got to the golden rule, in a far more pleasingly phrased iteration than Jesus', long before him.
Confucius Wrote:Zi Gong asked, saying, "Is there one word that may serve as a rule of practice for all one's life?" The Master said, "Is not reciprocity such a word?" -"Never impose on others what you would not choose for yourself"
Mozi Wrote:If people regarded other people's families in the same way that they regard their own, who then would incite their own family to attack that of another? For one would do for others as one would do for oneself.
Laozi Wrote:Regard your neighbor's gain as your own gain, and your neighbor's loss as your own loss
In addition, the Egyptian story of the Eloquent Peasant features a roughly similar phrasing of the Golden Rule as Jesus'. Oh, and the Indian Mahabarata contains the phrase "treat others as you treat yourself," just, you know, in Sanskrit.
Do you ever get tired of being so ignorant?

For all your high-falutin' philosophese, you're remarkably uneducated outside of your own Western culture.
