Gandalf? There's either more to the story, or you slipped up. No it's true, Lee was originally going to play Gandalf. I'm not sure what happened to have McKellen take the role - perhaps Lee was a bit too old by the time the films were made - but either way both parts were absolutely perfectly filled

Check out the man's filmography. Jesus, did he ever have time for a vacation?
He'll be missed. And yes, he is and always will be the only Dracula (ok, maybe also the creepy guy from the original Nosferatu) for me.

At least he refused to talk about it. How much of it really is top secret and how much clever image building, can be debated.
He told a tale where he was filming and the director told him to imagine the sound of someone being stabbed, to which he replied he did not need to imagine.

Not taking owt from Christopher Lee, but how tragic is it that Ron Moody snuffed it the same day?

I think it's in one of the commentaries on one of the Lord of the Rings discs.
And why the hell doesn't this board combine posts anymore?

I know, this world is getting smaller almost every day. Terry Pratchett, Rik Mayall, Leonard Nimoy, now these two... irreplaceable.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
