I never have and never will deny that homosexual inclinations can happen with animals. But an animal doing something is not what we use as a basis for determining an action's morality.
What do animals have to do with what I asked?
Thank you for your honesty; it still makes me sad, and it should make you sad too.
Oh, were you referring to his video about animals being gay?

Oh whoops, I'm sorry. I didn't click on your link and was assuming you were referring to another video he posted.
I will take a look later on. Time to get some stuff done around the house and prepare dinner.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

No... I was referring to the link I posted here: (July 8, 2015 at 7:33 pm)rexbeccarox Wrote: (July 8, 2015 at 7:27 pm)Catholic_Lady Wrote: In the eyes of the Church, a marriage, as we understand it, is only possible between a man and a woman. ... and you're ok with a good percentage of the population being slighted that way? That's something you follow by choice?
These antiquated beliefs that you and others hold make me very very sad.
How do you feel about the story/video Atheist BG posted?
Why would I ask you a question like that without posting the link? That'd be silly.

Very true.
But we believe we are called to try to act beyond our natural inclinations at times.
Which would be fine if that's the whole package. Unfortunately, these beliefs also call for the denial of natural "inclinations"; or worse, that people act contrary to them - in essence, criminalising human nature.

That's one of the many, many reasons I don't.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

My apologies.
I saw the post and watched the video. I don't agree with the woman who refuses to give them a license. She works for the government, and it's her job to provide marriage licenses to couple's who come in. If doing so goes against her convictions, then she should look for another job. It's like a vegan cashier at Walmart refusing to ring up animal products for customers who come through her line. The cashier can have whatever beliefs she wants, but if she does not want to ring up all the items a customer brings her, then she should open up her own private grocery store or get a different job.

To be fair, I am sure there are "natural inclinations" that you too believe to be immoral to act on. They just aren't all the same ones as me.

Thanks.
If you were County Clerk, would you issue marriage licenses to homosexuals or would you quit your job? Just curious.

I would not quit.
A country has the right to make that decision regarding its views on marriage, and I recognize that, fair and square. I would just know in my heart that it meant something different to me.

Oh, I must have misunderstood. I thought you were trying to say that it's somehow inherently wrong/harmful to believe a person should ever resist acting on their natural inclinations, in general.

Resisting action on natural inclinations =/= believing they are too immoral to act on, necessarily - leaving aside the obvious absurdity of a sliding scale of morality, of course.
I said that your religion - actually just about every religion - 'teaches' that people deny or actively work against their own nature, not that such things are immoral. You're the one dragging morality into the issue. I'd be interested in seeing how you justify that.

Well, it is the same thing for me because in most cases there would be no major reason to resist acting on an inclination if it weren't immoral to do so.
I don't really understand what you are asking. Can you clarify?
