I wonder if Lois Duncan was trying to go L. Ron on our asses when she wrote Stranger With My Face. I was so obsessed with that book as a kid, I tried to do it and I tried to get my friends to try. It never worked.

That was probably a big influence on me, come to think of it. When I realized I couldn't leave my body to travel to other places, I was very disappointed.

I've had a couple of OBEs, and I can confirm that they are very real as an experience, and a very exciting experience at that. I can also confirm that you can produce one through training and mental tricks.

The problem with the nutters is they take every experience as a representation of external reality, rather than as an expression of the functioning of the self.

There a lot written about "Astral projection" over the decades.
The last I read about it from psychologists is that it is just an illusion of the mind.
