So David gives a command for the Ark to be Moved.
Now according to the law, the Ark was to be moved by inserting two long poles made from a certain wood into large rings mounted on the outside of the box and then carried by levitical priests.
But rather than do what was commanded Uzzah and his brother provide a wagon, which again he was not a levite nor did he make the arrangements to move the ark according to the law. (which would have provided the suspention needed to traverse rough terrain.) Nor does 2nd Samuel say that the ark would have been destroyed if it had hit the ground.
The death of Uzzah put the fear/Respect of God back into David (the one who allowed Uzzah to carry off the Ark) and it also punished Uzzah for crossing a line he should not have. (Again even being near the ark let alone transporting it the way he did.)
This afternoon I was walking down the street. A group of people were guiding me to where I wanted to go. Then without warning, I stumbled and almost fell. I may or may not have been badly injured by the fall, but in any case one of the men managed to catch me. In response, I shot him in the face with a twelve-bore. This not only had the effect of punishing the guy for even daring to be near enough to me to lay hand on me (although what he was meant to learn from it is another matter), but also put the fear of respect into the others.
Now what would such a story say about me?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

That's just what I would've done!

It's a perfectly reasonable response, isn't it? I don't know why more people don't slaughter anyone who dares to help them.

What? I thought you shot him because he dared to touch you? If you are going to send mixed messages to people, they aren't going to know what to do.
I personally feel the right to kill anyone who dares to cast a shadow on me.
And you are correct, doing such things really impresses the survivors. They learn their place, even if the lesson is too late for the dead. But, you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.

I found this building where there were 50 people inside all throwing a party in my honour. It was a bit embarresing actually! They were saying how wonderful I was, how they'd do anything for me...
So obviously, I threw a grenade in there. But before it went off, I grabbed one little kid from inside and saved them! Now people love me even more, I'm a hero. More of these buildings are showing up. Maybe I'll go bulldoze one tomorrow...

Of course they will know what to do, they are 'divinely' inspired.

After watching some of our amateur fucking morons try to explain why "Uzzah" had to die I decided to consult a professional asshole to see what they have come up with.
http://lavistachurchofchrist.org/LVSermo...eToDie.htm
Quote:Uzzah died because he touched the Ark of God, but he wasn’t the only one punished. David, in front of 30,000 people, saw the anger of God. David’s carelessness led to a man needlessly dying.
A. Yet David learned - I Chronicles 15:1-2, 12-15
B. Notice David’s admission: “We did not consult God about the proper order.”
1. They did it in a manner that seemed right to them, but they did not check to see if God approved.
2. David was mad that God killed Uzzah, but he learned that he had only himself to blame.
I can't really blame the amateurs if the pros are as fucked up as this.
The good news of course is that it is all just a bullshit story, like the 3 Little Pigs. There was no Uzzah. No Ark. And most of all No God.

So basically , Min, what you are saying is that not only has science almost completely dissolved any remaining "god of the gaps" from the physical world, but now historians, and a vast mass of prominent free thinkers are dispelling God from the "only" sacred book where he could live and prosper, namely the holy bible. Well that's pretty fucking sad!, and I'm on the outside!
No God, No fear.
Know God, Know fear.
