As soon as the theory is put into practice and the practice works perfectly then we know that the findings are correct.
For working perfectly i mean work in a way that lead to solutions.
These solutions should not be understood as progress as progress doesn't exist within the physical arena.  Lightbulb

OK. So if we put them into practice and they seem to be working, how do we know we're not making a mistake somehow? How do we know we're interpreting things correctly?

I now see the problem you're having. One of your "horses" is IMAGINARY. You can feed it all you want, but you'll just keep turning in circles - as you are.

Seriously - I hope you are a child, because if you're not - we're laughing at a mentally challenged, or ill person...  Undecided

After all the bla, bla, bla and crap from the previous posts here we got an interesting question.
A knife can kill and at the same time can help you to do so many practical things in your life.
The atom is the same.
It can kill but can also solve so many problems.
By splitting atoms we can get a lot of energy which help us in solving so many problems so everything in nature come
with the positive and negative.
You got the hands.
You can use to kill people or you can use to build a house.
You never thought about it Iro.
Didn't you.  Smile
Oh, by the way don't forget also that by using your hands and your brain properly you can also write
something that make sense instead the usual bla, bla, bla.  Big Grin

Rik, your thinking/reasoning if flawed. You think you are demonstrating logic and reason when you are not. Debating you is a waste of time and energy because you can only see your flawed logic and pseudoscience (a collection of beliefs or practices mistakenly regarded as being based on scientific method).
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

Indeed!

Little Rik believes in sparklely MAGIC!  All of his world view of god and the univese breaks down eventually into the element of sparkle fairy dust magic. His god uses it and is made of it. He just won't let go of the idea that science is bad and sparkle fairy dust magic is good.

C'mon now, we're so close! How can we be sure we've removed our own bias, mistakes or even incompetence from the conclusion we think we've drawn?

I can't wait for the day that we unlock the mystery box that is human consciousness. Then finally we will know how the human brain can create what we call the "self." The ignorance will be driven out and people will be humbled in their humanity and the absence of a soul.

That hasn't helped so much in the case of evolution.  Can't imagine how the rest of us understanding how consciousness works will ever reach someone like Little Dik.  They prefer the 'truth' they know to the Truth that is .. and by a wide margin.

Funnily enough, I have considered it that way plenty of times. Fire burns and destroys, yet can also provide warmth and light. Any technology can be used for good and for bad, can be destructive or constructive. Technology only comes from scientific innovation, and has allowed us to drag ourselves up from the mud and into the modern age, including the invention of the machine you are currently sitting in front of and use to spray your form of manure all over the internet.
