People Don't Go to Hell in the Bible

RE: People Don't Go to Hell in the Bible
"Eternal destruction"

Huh ?

How would one eternally destroy the Empire state Building, to pose an example ??

Eternal destruction implies eternal existence.

Or is this another one of those 'mystery of faith' or 'BECAUSE JESUS !!!!' things ???
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

You eternally destroy something by destroying it completely, and ensuring it never comes back into existence.

This is why I said it's still debatable. We have different interpretations of what "eternally destroyed" means.

I need to point out that 1) Adam didn't immediately die after eating the fruit and 2) life comes not from the material body but by God's breathing life into the body. These facts point to the second death that John mentions in the Revelation, which is eternal damnation.

That's because the fruit doesn't actually cause death, as Yahweh implies. Him forbidding them from eating the fruit of eternal life does. Kind of a miscommunication thing going on.

If you exist in hell, you're not dead. You're as alive as people in heaven, just in a different location. You exist eternally either way, so saying people in heaven have eternal life isn't really accurate. Much like saying you will surely die if you eat the fruit of knowledge isn't entirely accurate.

You theists keep using this word...

"Facts..."

I do not think it means what you think it means.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

The definition of ὄλεθρος (olethros) does not imply extinction.  The Greek word for extinction is αφανισμός or εξαφάνιση (here) and is not used in 1 Thessalonians 1:9.

Debates arise over texts for a variety of reasons.  In this specific case the debate is a result of not understanding the definition of the word as written in the inspired text (the Greek).  The Greek words used to not allow for an interpretation of extinction or annihilation.

If it could be proven beyond doubt that God exists...
and that He is the one spoken of in the Bible...
would you repent of your sins and place your faith in Jesus Christ?

Modern definitions don't always coincide with ancient definitions. I guess it's not cessation of existence after all.
