Was that aimed at me? Because I do not take kindly to being accused of flippancy over such things.
There are some who have been so in this thread, and now you mention it I do wish they would shut the fuck up, because they are in no way helping Θ_Θ

If you weren't making jokes about me then no I wasn't. The people who did know who they are.

I very much doubt it's going to exacerbate Shini's depression if I call you out on your hypocritical bullshit.

If anyone on this thread sounded flippant about your depression (myself included) please allow me to apologize on their behalf. Godschild's brand of lunacy is a joking matter, but your situation is not. Your feelings are valid, your suffering is valid, and the world really can be a shitty place sometimes.

When I was still religious, I used to drift in and out of suicidal ideation on an occasional basis. The longer I lived, the less hope the Bible actually seemed to provide. More and more it seemed like the game was hopelessly rigged, and God didn't care about anything except our belief, worship, and obedience. I frequently despaired.

Strangely enough, it was atheism that finally purged such thoughts from my mind. Upon realizing that we all have only one life to live, I began to realize how precious it was and how vital that we make the most of it. I drew comfort from knowing that this world of suffering wasn't created by someone who meant it to be that way, that it was all just kind of the way things fell out.

I know things can seem bleak sometimes. The media loves to peddle a message of fear because it's what sells, but if you look at the actual numbers, humanity really is getting better, not worse. Proportionally speaking, humanity is far less warlike and criminal than we were even 100 years ago. In fact, it's likely that your adverse reaction to the atrocities that do occur is partly produced by the fact that, in general, humans just aren't that used to atrocity these days (at least in the West). As for climate change, I fully expect humanity to figure out how to survive/mitigate whatever is happening with that far before it threatens the wellbeing of the planet or even our species. There are people living in some pretty harsh conditions on this planet already (i.e. places near the equator and near the poles), so I'm not overly concerned about humans' ability to weather inhospitable climates. I don't know if you draw any comfort from that, but that's pretty much how I keep that from stealing any sleep from me.

Hang in there. It gets better if you wait.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

IMO Godschild did nothing wrong. I appreciate kindness wherever it comes from.

RE: Suicide
I'm very familiar with the feeling of wanting to die. I've felt that way for nearly 8 years now, at many times begging for the release of death. So I really do understand.

Regardless of the actual situation, you are not helping with this shit. If this is how you use your right to free speech, I'm gonna have to use mine to tell you to fuck off.

Yeah, your negativity gets tiring, Kitan. At least have the decency to keep it to a less serious thread.

Shinagami:

I apologize if my last post seemed abrupt, trite or flippant. That was not my intent. The written word is not my preferred means of communication. I am told I often come across as short, distant and unfeeling.

Since my last post I’ve been following this discussion but have been reluctant to repost. I take suicidal ideation very seriously. You seem to be getting a lot of positive support from persons with first-hand knowledge. I hope that you are considering what they have to say. I think there are some questions that you need to consider and then take action to address in real life.  Don’t feel that you have to respond here.

At what age did you first experience depressive feelings?
At what age did you realize that you were depressed?
Other than depression do you have any other mental health issues (anxiety/mood swings/out of control anger/risky behavior/other intrusive thoughts)?
Do you have any physical health issues?
Other than with your family, is your depression having an adverse effect on your social interactions with others in real life?
At what age did you have your first thoughts of suicide?
Do you have a family history of depression or suicidal behavior?
Have you expressed your suicidal thoughts to anyone in real life?
Are you currently receiving therapy for your depression (psychological, medical)?
Do you self medicate with substances to help with the depression?
How often do you think about suicide?
Do you have a detailed plan for committing suicide? If yes, what are those details?
Have you attempted suicide in the past?
Other than escape/release from depression, misery, pain,………, do you have any other motive for considering suicide?

If you haven’t guessed these are some common suicide assessment questions. Based on what I’ve read in your posts I believe you need to seek professional help in real life. Your answers to these questions might help you come to that decision and take action.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
