Lets talk about sex.

RE: Lets talk about sex.
We bad guys would need the challenge of multiple spankers because one would wear out too quickly and we would get bored.

Heh, fair enough.

Perhaps religion seeks to control sex because it is an act of creation, and that by nature, is an affront to god?

Whatever, I'm drunk...Smile

I guess I've never spanked a "bad guy."

Don't forget shitting.  For some it is right up there with sex and eating.  For Cath-y it might almost be a religious experience?

I still hold to the idea that, although religion seeks to control many aspects of our lives, sex is by far the most current and earnest effort at the moment.
For example....the christian bible says kill all non-believers or at least shun them but i haven't seen any protesters at the Buhddist temple i sometimes go to. Nor have i seen any at the few mosques that i have passed in America.
Iv'e never seen picketers in front of a tatoo shop.
However I have seen the protesters at abortion clinics and I have heard of protesters at a gay marriage.
Also in the presidential battle for the republican nomination the planned parenthood is a hot topic.
You may ask why I equate the subject of sex to abortion. That may be a topic for another discussion but in short....
the folks that want to shut down the clinics may be crying to save the children (for which i can understand) but these are also the same people that would also shut down birth control (in general). Once again religion's attempt at controlling a woman's vag.

That's because everyone thinks they're an expert on sex and therefore - morality associated with it.

I can rarely talk about sex seriously. In the moment, ya, very focused, goal oriented, pleasure seeking. Outside the moment hilarious. The faces we make, the vocalizations, the contortions, the things we bring into the act. All I do is smile and laugh.

OK, seriously, in the beginning I think that controlling the sexual activities of women was all for ownership by men. Sorry ladies. Kind of "that's my woman and only I'm allowed to do that to her". A guarantee that the possessing man would have no rivals and that the offspring would be his. I believe that this occurs in and outside religion. Look at biker gangs and the "I'm property of" code. But inside religion, as time went on, all kinds of rituals and taboos were then built up around that premise. Unfortunately the religious "rules" did not take into account human drive to seek sexual pleasure. Thus the problems that exist today. The stud vs slut mentality. The prostitute as an outcast even thought it's the male that is the driving force in prostitution. (hilk hilk, I said driving, sorry) Keeping women in the home. The list goes on. Until women are allowed to have an even playing field in the sexual arena the negative societal issues will persist.

OK, that's enough talk and seriousness. I need something visual, that's not to abysmal, maybe and old Steve Reeves movie?
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

The thread is catchy don't you think but can you think of a place in our lives that is more invaded by religion than sex?
I'dd like to hear the various thoughts on why it is that the creator of all the universe (if your are a believer) would care what our sex lives involved.
It's is a hot topic not only in the christian religion but also in every major faith in the world.
Why do you think that is?
If you are a practitioner of said religions that tightly funnle sex into procreation only in special relationships then how does that affect your life.  Practitioner or not we are all still human.  I don't recall God giving me any special ability to deal with temptation when it cam to desire when i was a Christian.
If you are not a believer then why would the clever deity creating man want to control the sex of others?
What purpose do you think it serves to limit sexual behavior beyond what is sensible ei: use protection so as to avoid unpleasant things like pregnancy and disease?
In the culture i grew up in I questioned why it was that a man who had lots of sex was a "stud" (positive connotation) but a woman who did the same thing was a "slut" (negative connotation).  It seemed that in this day and age where birth control and disease prevention are prevalent that such terms need no longer apply to any gender.
Maybe you other more historicaly educated people can answer why this culture/thought still persists.  Do you think religion has something to do with it?

The short answer is because sex is a physical representation/activity that represents the Union of two individuals. This is or should be (according to God's design) a one time thing. To separate and unite with another causes damage to who we are and supposed to be.

Bold mine.

Gonna suck for you if your mating partner dies.

[Edit] Hold the phone. Didn't a chieftain in the holy book of dribble take a younger more fertile serving wench while still tied to the first woman? Apparently this was OK cause his story was maintained in the book of scaries.

RE: Lets talk about sex.
wait who/what says there will be damage caused. Jealousy i can understand that's natural but when the two willingly break the ties then that's no longer an issue.

I believe that the bible also had definitions of marriage that are completely illegal today such as taking and raping prisoners of war. That's looks like ultimate vag control and not acceptable today.

I do believe that sex should be treated with respect after all it made you and it made me but not with guilt and fear.

I wonder if the religious books are more designed for the people that wont try to improve the way humanity treats one another. You know like the laws that are made cause some idiot wouldn't listen to his/her better judgment.

So it seems to me then that the biblical folks who wrote the bible (or God if you believe the fable) felt that only fear and guilt would stop people from having sex in an irresponceble manner. Okay I get it now.

I doesn't work though.
