Christians: Why does the answer have to be god?

I don't have a problem with evolution. I do believe in the big bang theory and all that. Why anyone should be angry at individuals who believe strictly in creationism though, is beyond me.

It's not anger, it's utter dismay at folk that deny all evidence and research in favour of absolute bollocks (creationism).

Why care so much though? The way I see it, it doesn't effect your life any so if they want to believe in a 6,000 year old universe or whatever, then who cares?

It doesn't stop me from sleeping but it irks me that the likes of Ken Ham spout this nonsense to any fool willing to lap it up and that it gets fed to children which prevents them from learning facts and developing a healthy enquiring mind open to science. There's a reason we refer to them as 'creatards'. It simply should not be passed off as a theory fullstop, it encourages stupidity and that is morally repugnant in my book.

I reject Evolution, but that does not mean I accept a young earth creationist point of view either. But as CL said, does it matter in the grand scheme of things? I think your main issue is that their beliefs are being passed off as propaganda and attempting to proselytize others. It's an opposing viewpoint which those with an open intellectual mind should listen to and make their own decision to reject or not. I have no problem with it, listened to it and use my own intellect to make a decision on it. It's called an informed decision.

I can understand getting mad about public schools teaching your kids creationism.  

But I can't understand why anyone should care if there's people out there who believe in a different origin of the universe as yourself. Some people need to relax and just live and let live a little bit. Sheesh lol.

Because there's a trickle down effect.

People who believe in it vote for people who believe in it.  Those are the kinds of people who don't believe in climate change, who don't understand biology ('legitimate rape'), who slash research and development budgets, who try to get creationism presented in schools as legitimate science, and so on.

It's an actively damaging belief to hold.

There's always going to be people who vote for people who you don't think will be good for the country. This applies to everyone, regardless of who you are and what you believe in. It seems completely pointless to me to get upset about people not believing in evolution. Lord knows there are waaayyyy too many other things to be upset about in the world lol.

I won't let it go and I do care. I care that it gets peddled as a legitimate theory to the unsuspecting. If they kept their crazy shit to themselves then fine, but they absolutely don't. It's not a valid theory of the origin of the Universe, not one bit and it should be fucking outlawed if we want to progress as a species.
