Hate me, for I deserved to be hated
September 1, 2015 at 10:18 pm
My conception of our world is quite complicated in reference to any one else.
I first and foremost identify as an atheist.
What is strange is that I still adhere to spiritual ideal of paganism.
It is frustrating, because I am quite logical to a huge degree, and yet there is this spiritual aspect that I cannot shake.
I am not Christian, thank atheism. I am not of any judeo-christian theology, thank goodness.
For some reason I feel a connection with paganism spiritually.
My question is, is it possible for one to be anti-theist yet still spiritual toward some degree?

As Neil Degrasse Tyson said he is spiritual because of the wonders of the universe.
Yes Kitan you can be spiritual and be a atheists there is a big difference between religious spiritualism and just other
types of spiritualism. I am spiritual about nature and the universe.
Atheism is a non-prophet organization join today.

Kitan,
This is the perfect opportunity for us to clarify what the s word actually means! What do you mean by it?
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

For me, the s word means that I am emotionally connected to something when reason should and does dictate the connection is mere chemicals reacting in my body toward a good effect and toward that particular concept.

Reason should also tell you that there is good reductionism and pointless, self-defeating reductionism. You can't reason your way out of an emotional life unless you truly wish to become a shell of yourself.

In that case I'm super spiritual... One could by that definition even include loving my family as spirituality?

I would imagine one could be an atheist and believe in whatever the hell he or she wants. What does the
handbook say?

Did you come up with these sensations on your own?
Being atheist doesn't make us robots.... you're thinking on your own. That's the difference. What's all the bullshit about hating you about?
No God, No fear.

Well of course we hate you, but for entirely different reasons!

One should not dismiss emotions simply because they are chemical reactions, life is a chemical reaction, but we imbue it with enough meaning and value to make even the concept of god look trivial by comparison. A person CHOOSES how and what they live their lives for, many even get to choose what to die for(and even do it with a smile at times), even if it can be reduced to chemical reactions you couldn't divide with the number of fucks I give about WHERE it comes from.
I would more generally advocate that one only leave one entrance into their mind(reason), and keep the rest of it rather closed, as it is one hell of a lot easier to shovel shit in than it is to get it out.
If the evidence and reason for you to believe something isn't really any better than the reason you should believe some rural farmer from Arkansas got anally probed by interstellar visitors, then you probably shouldn't.
