Yeah, they are mandated to, but they don't.
There's no need to "raise your kid atheist", simply not indoctrinating them into religion and teaching them how to think will almost certainly produce an atheist anyhow.

Yeah but religion has centuries of experience when it comes to sucking people in. I know that if I have kids I will make it no secret I hate religion and why.

Oh sure, explaining the problems with religion is fine. What I meant was that I don't believe most atheists indoctrinate their kids that there "is no God", the way some theists seem to think we would. Pointing out the lack of coherence and evidence is fine, though.

Qualifications: Proficiency in healing, teleportation, psy abilities, omniscience and omnipotence. Applicant must be a dynamic public speaker, as the job is primarily public relations. Gender, race, species unimportant.
Interview: the applicant should be prepared to:
1) Provide proof to the human race regarding the existence or non-existence of a “soul”.
1a) If the soul is proven to exist, provide a clear description of what happens to that entity after human death.
2) Perform an instantaneous healing. Test subject will be provided by the search committee.
3) Demonstrate teleportation skills.
4) Provide convincing evidence of fairness of judgement and a benevolent nature.
5) Provide governing bodies of countries with a foolproof means of banishing you from office should you ever behave in any manner that is harmful to humankind.
Job Description:
Travel: public speaking tours. Publicly bestow health and peace upon caring humans who work to better humanity. Publicly administer punishment to all corrupt clergy and politicians. Protect those who are defenseless. Work occasional miracles. She obviously wants more than the spiritual guidance her mother can provide, but doesn't know where to get it, and if the Mother is home schooling to keep her from religion despite what the child may want for herself... Well that's the heart breaking part.
once the child reaches the age of accountability why not let him/her choose for themselves?

I neglected to mention in my earlier post that the above are incompatible with each other. It is logically impossible to overpower an omnipotent being, and so it would necessarily be impossible to force an omnipotent being "from office." Any being that can be forced to do anything is, by definition, not omnipotent.

It seems that having contradictory attributes is also one of the job criteria though, if popular religions are any example She just missed that part out I think.

LOL - I missed that part too! An omnipotent Deity would be unstoppable. I was just impressed that a 14-yr-old saw a need for a check and balance system. I'm collecting responses for her, and will find a fun way to point out that inconsistency. Thanks guys!
