Teaching your kids about Santa Clause

Teaching your kids about Santa Clause
Greetings, infidels.

How do y'all feel about the whole Santa Clause thing? Did you, do you plan to, or would you if you had kids, tell them Santa is real? Do you think it's ok if parents want to do Santa Clause with their kids, or do you think it's wrong?
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

RE: Teaching your kids about Santa Clause
I think it is wrong. The claim that "it is for the children" is just bullshit nonsense. Kids like gifts, no matter who is giving them. And telling them it is parents leads them to understand that is why Johnny down the street got more expensive presents, since Johnny's parents are relatively rich. If they believe it is Santa, then they will be apt to believe that Santa does not love them as much as Johnny.

Also, although some children don't seem to mind too much when they learn the truth, others are devastated. I remember this well from my childhood. I was not lied to about Santa, so I knew from a very early age that it was a lot of nonsense. But I noticed in kindergarten when some of my classmates found out the truth, they were very upset. And they had a right to be upset. The people who they depended on demonstrated that they are liars and not to be trusted.

I've always known Santa was fake. Didn't ruin Xmas for me or anything. When and if I have children their presents will all be labeled from me and their family. If Santa comes up in convo I will explain it's like cartoons or comics. It's fake but it's a fun idea to play with.

Because I wanted to know the answers.

My siblings and I were all taught about Santa, and the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy lol. I don't think it's "wrong" or anything, but I definitely don't plan on teaching my kids. I don't want them to get disappointed or upset with me for "lying" to them when they find out the truth lol.

Started the Santa thing at age 2. He grew out of it by age 5.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

We played the SC-EB game with our kids.  They figured it out by the time they were 4 or so.  Smart kids.  They take after their mother.

I don't think it's necessarily wrong, but let me tell you, children have vivid imaginations. I prefer to let my kids invent their own fairytales. I try not to ever lie to my kids.
