Hi, I'm a Christian. Help Me Disprove My Religion!
RE: Hi, I'm a Christian. Help Me Disprove My Religion!
Hello.

My argument against Christianity was always about how God presented himself to people. It's a matter of respect.
If I don't respect the God, then he doesn't get my service.

Christianity presents God as a human with superpowers, an entity full of human features, even has a son, viewing himself -the God- as a father, yet his son is his own self.. I, according to the God of the bible, was made in " his image ", I can't respect such a God..A God that gave his image to a creature, a God that produced a child, a God that died for the sins of others ( that's not sacrifice; that's "deceit").

My argument was always the above; I can't respect such a God.

I have a hard time understanding why such a god does not deserve respect. I'd rather that characteristic of God than the barbaric traits he is usually known for in the Bible and Qur'an.

I cannot die for the sins of Hitler; he did them, not ME, punishing myself for his sins would mean I have a huge error in my judgement; I'm not worthy of being a judge. To me at least.

Concluding the deaths of millions in the death of one man, is the deceit. No, Jesus's death doesn't equal the deaths of thousands on the Roman sticks, neither by math, nor by pain.

If he was a God, he should've known already how the pain feels..he created that pain after all. He was the one who gave us nerves..

Why would we need nerves?

To feel pain, to warn us harm is happening.

Why would we need these?

Because god made it so we could be harmed, and put in stuff that could harm us. Thanks a lot god. Could you at least make it so I can turn the pain feedback off when I know I'm in constant pain and can't do anything about it yet? Just a reminder ever half hour would be fine. I don't need it all the fucking time. Cheers.

I gave you kudos for this, because it's exactly what I think is particularly egregious about the whole concept. Any god that inflicts suffering and death on its creations but then has to manifest itself to find out what it feels like to be human would be the most dangerous entity in the Universe.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I was talking about closeness to human beings.

What does your ability to respect any particular God have to do with whether that disrespectable God, or another more respectable to You, exist?

Notice that you capitalized the Y in "You". Is AtlasS33 God? Tongue

AtlasS, you accept the Old and New Testaments as inspired scripture. You have been taught they have been "altered beyond repair" - but this isn't true. The Old Testament hasn't changed in at least 2200 years, and the New Testament has barely changed in the past 2,000 years, and the textual changes have been discovered and documented (the long endings of Mark for instance).

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke

John 8:44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
