A black driver feared for his life when a Mississippi police officer drew a gun and threatened to shoot him during a harrowing traffic stop.
Joshua Hibbler was admittedly driving his girlfriend’s Camaro convertible over the posted 30-mph speed limit Aug. 18 when Columbus officer Keith Dowd pulled him over, reported The Dispatch.
But he said Dowd, who is white, tried to trick him into confessing to being intoxicated and bombarded him with insults, and Hibbler believes the officer was trying to provoke him.

But oh, those damned body cameras trip they up all the time.....

Dowd eventually let him go with a warning, and Hibbard’s uncle, a former city councilman, called the police chief to report the stop.

The officer was given a written reprimand but remained on duty until Monday, but Dowd was placed on paid administrative leave after the body camera video was released to the media.

A Missouri judge on Friday found a former St. Louis police officer not guilty of murder in the shooting death of a black man after a car chase in 2011, prosecutors said.

And the lesson is not lost of the motherfuckers.  Kill anyone you want whenever you want and the courts will accept any bullshit excuse you make.

That would probably be an improvement, if we're going to have police shooters, if they did.  Give the rank and file a shield and taser..only call in the hitters when they can't de-escalate.  

It would, at least, reduce the pool of personnel you had to be super fuckin picky about. Take the averaghe number of interactions in which guns are a procedural requirement, and assign a -slightly- larger percentage of the overall police force in the area to armed units. Assess candidates for armed units by psych eval with a requirement of service without altercation of x period, and cycle candidates out of the armed units on a regular schedule to prevent desensitization.
